Worlds appear in Save Folder, but not in game?

After playing in a world for a few hours, the game crashed and appeared to have deleted itself. I started a new world and the same thing happened again.

I checked the save folder in AppData/Local/Pal/Save/SavedGames and it appears that all the worlds I created were never deleted, but the save files aren't being read by the game. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I had the same issue, and I was able to salvage my world but not my character progression.

I believe that somehow the crash wipes the LevelMeta.sav file in AppData\Local\Pal\Saved\SaveGames\$Randomnumbers\$Randomnumbers. It's straight up just blank if you open it in notepad. It's my guess that this tracks all character info which is both why you can't load it because there's nothing there and why you can't really salvage your character when this happens.

What you should do is start a new game, make a character, then save and quit to main menu. Next copy every file from your old broken save aside from the LevelMeta.sav file into the new save you just made and overwrite. You should now be able to load that new save and you'll be in your old world, with the same base and Pals in it working away. You will have to re-level your character though sadly.

I'd suggest everyone backup their save manually after each play session, especially this LevelMeta.sav, until this problem is resolved.

I was able to salvage my player as well by just going back a backup and copying everything from them, including levelmeta.sav

How did you guys get the save file working, my friend replaced the new world's file except the levelMeta.Sav with the old world's data. Then he went in and the save data of tyhe world wasn't there.

you gotta go back a backup and import all the files from the 2nd to latest folders from both local and world files (pal > saved > save games > some numbers > more numbers but representative of the world > backup)

if you dont import everything it will just end up the same, and I mean everything including levelmeta.sav
