If they add tons of different fusions instead that would be a really interesting difference while still being a way to deliver on the fun of evolving your creatures.
1. If you don't want your Pal to change, you don't have to worry about it as the Pals only change through fusions.
As if they'd wanna give ANY additional leverage to Nintendo to sue or cease'n'desist...

But I do like the puzzle aspect of evolution in Pokemon games, things like Rockruff, Inkay and Shedninja. But I could take or leave the level based evolutions.
Pokemon franchise started in 1996, Digimon started in 1997, a spawn from tomagachi.
😱I thought digimon came out first because it released in america first, my mistake.
Oh well, both tamagotchi and pokemon inspired their evolution thing from nature anyhow.
