corporate lawyers at nintendo headquarters are drafting demand letters as we speak. imagine giving money and investing time into a game that is doomed from the beginning.

The lawsuit regarding the Pokemon clone is partially true, as Nintendo is indeed taking legal action. However, it is important to note that the clone in question is not Palworld, but a Chinese copycat game called "PokeZoo." Nintendo has made an official announcement in both Japan and America regarding this matter. The Pokemon Company has stated that they will investigate any use of their intellectual property in Palworld, a process that could take up to 2-4 years. It is crucial to understand that Nintendo and other related companies would need to gather evidence of copyrighted assets, designs, models, or names being used in Palworld by Pocketpair in order to pursue litigation. At this point, fans of both games should stay updated on the situation, as it is still in its early stages and more information may emerge in due time. It is worth mentioning that, for now, Palworld appears to be different enough from the Pocket Monster franchise to avoid legal issues, but this could potentially change.
Things that people want, Like Pal only arenas, could make the game closer to Pokemon.

I personally think Palworld should steer clear of things that make its gameplay closer to anything Nintendo puts out. They should fix all the Survival issues and Base issues and make those more robust. Those things are what separates this game from Pokemon and that is what they need to double down on.

Japanese Company. 0 Fair Use is allowed in Japan, coincidentally the game was announced years ago and that would've been when Nintendo's lawyers would've shut it all down. I feel sad for people who gave a troll post points. Shame on them

you have no idea about fair use in japan, lmao. go back to streaming to your 10 followers
fair use doesnt exist in japan

Nintento comes from japanese. Palworld developer comes from japanese... Palworld maker worked over 3 years on this game and Nintendo knew it. But losers like u will never see the whole thing. Nothing will happen. Maybe nintendo will get some Money, or Palworld will change some Pals, but thats it. Keep being stupid, but shut up while u do so.

I don't think anybody here cares and even if someone did, there is nothing anyone could do about it here anyways. At least you are getting the attention you so desperately want and also a reaction from some people. How pathetic.
seethe and cope. Palworld already made half a billion $ in profit.
Even if they did (which they won't) it's already been "archived".... so.....

I mean sure but what does that do? If Nintendo truly has a reason to take action and wins, what does them making so much profit do? I also doubt anythings gonna happen but to say they made x amount of money is just pointless lol.

It does, but it's less broad and permissive than it is in, say, America. That being said, if they had a case, they'd have surely brought it by now. It's been three years.
Jokes on you as Nintendo doesn't have a case against them. They did go after the Pokemon Mod for this game though and in all seriousness if they filed over the art style then Dragon Warrior Devs could file suit cause they had the monster style first.

this game didn't have a quarter billion of revenue 3 years ago cupcake
Pokemon pretty much has not development since it's first release...
Nintendo/Gamefreak failed to progress their franchise.

Stop being salty.

Japan's not as sue-happy as America is. To even bring a civil suit in Japan, you have to pay a court fee that amounts to a percentage of the claim's value. America is somewhat unique in being a society that "looks to sue".

Regardless of the revenue they've gained, if Nintendo had a suit, they'd have filed it. They could only file in one of three categories, so let's see if any apply.

Patent
Or, "ownership of an idea". There's no patent on the idea of monster catchers (indeed, they didn't even do it first; Dragon Quest and Shin Megami Tensei were doing it earlier, as I recall). So that's out.

Trademark
Or, "ownership of your brand". Palworld isn't using the name Pokemon, so no foul there. The only actual Pokemon they've trademarked are Pikachu (name and image) and some specific Pokemon like the Gen 1 starters (name only, I believe...?). None of those are used in Palworld, so no foul.

Copyright
Or, "literally just the right to copy". These aren't copied materials. Are inspirations clear? Oh you bet. But take a look at the monsters side by side[www.pcmag.com] and you'll see it's no different than saying, "Well, Nike has the most iconic basketball shoe, so no one else should be able to make a high-rim shoe!"

Copyright is called what it is for a reason. You're not permitted to copy another's work. If you want to know how permissive Japan can be about this, enter doujinshi. These fan-made comics sell for actual money at Comiket every year and feature stories involving the name and near-perfect likeness of characters from every Japanese IP under the sun, in stories of the author's own making.

These are VERY rarely, if ever, called up for copyright infringement.

If doujinshi can make it, I'm pretty sure Palworld is fine.
