Nintento comes from japanese. Palworld developer comes from japanese... Palworld maker worked over 3 years on this game and Nintendo knew it. But losers like u will never see the whole thing. I mean sure but what does that do? If Nintendo truly has a reason to take action and wins, what does them making so much profit do? I also doubt anythings gonna happen but to say they made x amount of money is just pointless lol.

Jokes on you as Nintendo doesn't have a case against them. They did go after the Pokemon Mod for this game though and in all seriousness if they filed over the art style then Dragon Warrior Devs could file suit cause they had the monster style first.

Japan's not as sue-happy as America is. To even bring a civil suit in Japan, you have to pay a court fee that amounts to a percentage of the claim's value. America is somewhat unique in being a society that "looks to sue".

Regardless of the revenue they've gained, if Nintendo had a suit, they'd have filed it. They could only file in one of three categories, so let's see if any apply.

Patent

Or, "ownership of an idea". There's no patent on the idea of monster catchers (indeed, they didn't even do it first; Dragon Quest and Shin Megami Tensei were doing it earlier, as I recall). So that's out.

Trademark

Or, "ownership of your brand". Palworld isn't using the name Pokemon, so no foul there. The only actual Pokemon they've trademarked are Pikachu (name and image) and some specific Pokemon like the Gen 1 starters (name only, I believe...?). None of those are used in Palworld, so no foul.

Copyright

Or, "literally just the right to copy". These aren't copied materials. Are inspirations clear? Oh you bet. But take a look at the monsters side by side[www.pcmag.com] and you'll see it's no different than saying, "Well, Nike has the most iconic basketball shoe, so no one else should be able to make a high-rim shoe!"

Copyright is called what it is for a reason. You're not permitted to copy another's work. If you want to know how permissive Japan can be about this, enter doujinshi. These fan-made comics sell for actual money at Comiket every year and feature stories involving the name and near-perfect likeness of characters from every Japanese IP under the sun, in stories of the author's own making.

These are VERY rarely, if ever, called up for copyright infringement.

If doujinshi can make it, I'm pretty sure Palworld is fine.
