Not at all. Compared to Pokémon, these monsters are well animated.
Pokemon animation usually consist of just shaking the 3d Model and call it an ATTACK. If animated it's around 15fps. Don't forget about the yearly release of mediocrity.
No...
Okay
Let me fix that.
For a second I was wondering "is it just me" too, crazy how that works. It's almost like it's painfully obvious. And whew, "Pals" huh? The creative thinking for this game's architecture is compelling and rich.
I.E. you can't just put a green Pikachu in the game and call it "Green Pikachu", but if you change even a couple of design elements and the name, there's no issues, you essentially need to avoid the branding, it's one of the reasons why so many knock off brands don't get sued all the time. Look at Pixar and Dreamworks, their character designs for people are near identical.
if that were the case half the japanese anime studios would have to constantly be suing eachother, considering most of them use the same freelancers.
That specific Pal looked like fat Pikachu to me... don't even ask!
I've seen some of the images on the web too. And the "resemblances" are stretches. And going so far as to say a Pal with droopy ears and fur on the side of it's head is a "rip-off."
But Pokémon gotta catch em all...
