Deticated Server Tipps
I assume you have installed deticated server already on same or other machine for this.
I assume you use windows 10.
I assume you know how to open Ports in Windows and your other firewall/Router
I assume you know how to create a .bat file and how to make file extensions visible (.txt, .bat, etc.).

First:
Copy all the content from the Default settings file to the used file.
G:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\PalServer\DefaultPalWorldSettings.ini
- as example for my path

to

G:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\PalServer\Pal\Saved\Config\WindowsServer\PalWorldSettings.ini
- copy all the content or the file and rename it to PalWorldSettings.ini

Second:
Do NOT enable "Zeilenumbruch" or "line break" in Editor for the Config File.

Third:
If you set a serverpassword JUST use High letters, low letter and numbers
Example: MyPalpassword24
Do not use this :-).

fourth:
Windows just creates incoming firewall rules but not outgoing.
You need to create outgoing rules same as incoming rules.
For TCP and for UDP all ports (at least incoming has all ports opened, i have done the same)
For the files:
*\PalServer\Pal\Binaries\Win64\PalServer-Win64-Test.exe
*\PalServer\Pal\Binaries\Win64\PalServer-Win64-Test-Cmd.exe
for all areas public/private/domain (or the one you are in)

fith:
open your firewall Ports.
( I use Ipfire so you need to adjust your router or your Firewall independent)
Set Destination NAT in the rule/rules with the IP pointing to your PC where the Server is running.
My Settings for the Ports:
Palworld Steamcmd 27015 TCP
Palworld Steamcmd 27015 UDP
Palworld TCP 8211
Palworld UDP 8211
Palworld UDP 25575

Edit: Just Port 8211 needed
Palworld udp 8221 not needed
Palworld TCP 8221 not needed

sixt (optional):
Create a .bat file.
This is in mine:
echo off
:start

C:\_Pal_Server\steamapps\common\PalServer\PalServer.exe EpicApp=PalServer -useperfthreads -NoAsyncLoadingThread -UseMultithreadForDS

goto start

with this i can start my server configured and it is visible ingame for me and others.

How do we edit Firewall Ports?

I get step #4, which was creating Outbound Rules to allow certain ports for TCP and UDP in Windows Firewall.

But how is #5 different for ports in Windows Firewall? Where do I make these changes in Windows Firewall settings?

Thank you so much!

Step 5 is when you set up the server for connections from the internet.
Internet <-> Firewall/router with Port openings <-> Windowsfirewall <-> Server Palworld

If you have for instance a Fritzbox as router you can set in some menu port openings.
If you set the server up just for your own network, you do not need step 5.

I see, so I'll need to access the local ip address of my router, go into its port forwarding rules and creat those port openings that you're speaking of in #5

Btw if i can see it in Recent Servers now, but get the message of "Connection timed out" is that likely due to step #5?

Yes, and you need your public Ip Adress or a Hostname that is linked with your Public IP Adress in Pal Server configured.
https://www.whatismypublicip.com/
When you do not have a Hostname that is linked with your Public IP (DynDNS) you need to reconfigure your Palserver with the new Public Ip every Day after the forced reconnection with your Internet Provider.

one free Dyndns provider is duckdns.

Yes some Data from your Client cannot reach the server or some data from the server cannot reach the client.

does this make it a community server visible from the server browser?

Normally you should see from your game clients all the other servers.
If not check your firewall Settings from the PC where your game is running.
You should have 2 rules for incoming.
*steamapps\common\Palworld\Palworld.exe TCP all ports
steamapps\common\Palworld\Palworld.exe UDP all ports
https://ibb.co/Thg01pX <- Client Rules overview where the game is running
Example for TCP same for UDP needed

Edit: now are the rights images there had Server rule settings uploaded the first time.

Anyone tried to run this on the same PC trying to connect and play towards? As part of me would want to make sure a friend group of 8 could play this, even if I have to set everything towards lowest to make it work on RAM and CPU usage, but I semi fear with a game like this it might just be a touch too taxing server wise on top of game wise where unless you've got a 32GB RAM and 8+ core CPU, you might be SOL.

I spun up the server and it ate roughly 8-14GB of RAM (there were 4 players in the game); so I'd say 32GB RAM is almost a must if you plan to host and play on the same machine.
