Says I'm prevented from playing online multiplayer games

When I start up the game it says "Sorry, you're currently prevented from playing online multiplayer games. You will not receive an invitation because multiplayer is restricted in your environment."

And sure enough, I can't join any servers or even enable multiplayer when trying to create a single player world. The join game with invitation code is also grayed out.

Anyone else getting this error or know a fix to it? Thanks in advance

What's your setup? You on Windows 11? 10? Did you get the prompt to allow online interactions through your firewall on the local network when you launched the game? Do you have an antivirus that may be blocking online connections through this application?

Since it's a new game that just came out today it's very possible some things consider it somewhat untrustworthy and are trying to block it because of that.

You need to allow the game through your firewall. You should have gotten prompted while trying to join.

Ran steam as admin and then pal world as admin and it works now

open up "windows defender firewall" and on the left click on " allow app through firewall" is the palworld app ticked both public and private??? also did you check you steam privacy settings and allow public??
