Ripoffs are not inherently illegal. They have made original models and mixed together two popular games. If you don't like it you could always just keep away.

Its still amusing, legal or not.

I'm sure it uses pokemon as an inspiration but games use other games as inspiration since forever. Digimon and temtem and so, so many other games exist you realise?
What it should show nintendo is that if they had allowed their games to be on PC, they would have had more sales.

Relax, I just bought the game. It's not bad, I actually kind of like it, but that doesn't change the fact that it's an obvious Pokemon ripoff.

It's not that I don't like it, it actually looks pretty fun. I'm just surprised this game was developed without a huge lawsuit from Nintendo.
fair enough. We might see legal trouble with how big the launch is but i doubt it will be anything much since it looks to all be original (gyarados is pretty close though) nothing like MoE did there a while back.

you a Nintendo investor ? Why does it matter to you anyhow ? Did you go cry in the TemTem forums ? or Cassette Beasts ?

Someone doesn't understand that parody and satire are protected under the DMCA. Last time I checked there aren't modern firearms in pokemon either, or survival elements, or even crafting and base building for that matter. So even at face value it's not even a pokemon ripoff. Did you make the same claim about Temtem by any chance?

I don't believe Nintendo has copyright over cute critters that carry weapons.

It's definitely a ripoff, come on...

Pokemon wishes it was this game.

Really though, Nintendo and TPC is only litigious whenever it uses direct assets or the same naming convention as Pokemon/Pocket Monsters. That's why Pokemon Uranium and Pocket Monsters Reissue bit the dust. They don't have a legal monopoly of monster capturing, that's why TemTem for example gets to exist.

I would be more concerned over their clear carbon copy of a tech upgrade tree that is ripped straight from ARK.

It's legal and many other companies have utilized Pokemon as reference points for their own games. As long as they have their own UI, music, mechanics, etc there can be no lawsuit from Nintendo or Pokemon.
