Dedicated working but not visible in servers
As per the title, got the dedicated up and running and it works connecting to it through the ip, but does not show up in community servers even after 40 min. The main reason I want to fix this is so I'm able to put a password on it because currently if you join through ip there is no option to enter password so it softlocks you out of the server. Really would like to be able to put a password on it as I had to take it off to join into it through ip. If anyone else had similar experiences or has advice feel free to chime in ~
Thanks in advance

I am not a tech savy person. however, i hosted a server through gportal and had the same issue you all had. I did find a work around though of refreshing the community server list and researching for my server each time. What I believe is happening is on their server select screen, at the bottom is a button to display next 200 results on their server list. I think whats going on is that when you use the search function, it only searches through the 200 servers it originally found to populate its list.

Is it suppose to launch PalServer or PalServer-Win64-Test-Cmd?

to make the server visible you have to create a BAT file where the game EXE is and use this, whatever your APPID is when you launch the game is what you put where it says YOURAPPID. this made my server visible

@Echo off
set SteamAppId=YOURAPPID
PalServer.exe -EpicApp=PalServer

Put this where the game EXE is or the Server EXE?

Direct connect seems to be dodgy as chips, if you can find the server in the server list it's a bit better. Once you get past the timeout, initial login issues and login at least once, it seems much easier to reconnect via the "Recent Servers" listing. In my experience.

You can find the app id as soon as you launch the .exe it will display in the black box.

Using the .bat script and forwarding port 27015 has worked for me (in addition to 8211 and 8221) and putting the public IP in the .ini

I did all of this and am still getting the timeout when trying to connect through the "recent servers." I can connect to the server via local IP, but no-one else can. Ports forwarded in windows and router firewall, bat file created.

when i start my server there is no text that appears in the console window it provides. I've seen other users show tthere is supposed to be a single line of text in there to indicate the startup was a success. anyone know whats up with that?

Are you able to connect through the recent tab?

not sure on the windows server but installing the linux one from steamcmd worked with just opening port 8211 UDP. however that server browser leaves much to be desired ( i do already forward ports 27015-27030 due to ark all on UDP not TCP ). in my port list it also tried to open 1985 TCP but its blocked and i can connect to it just fine it might be a windows issue

Launched server using the PalServer.sh command the first time then copied over the default settings added the IP and password to the single string settings ( they need to fix that as the settings have to be on a single line currently ) and then relaunched the server

In my case The windows Firewall had just created outgoing rules but not incoming what was the last thing to do for me.

This is what I was missing. I had both ports forwarded and could direct connect with my loopback address and external IP addres locally and I had a friend direct connect externally but I was unable to get it to show up in the server browser until I started the server using this batch file.

Not able to get visibility on a self hosted ubuntu yet, have forwarded all the ports above, and added local ip and region to the ini

Yup just confirmed that by refreshing a few times to see if I could even find same one twice, any known work around? like joining off steam friends kinda sketchy to leave it totally open I know once you join it gets put in recent servers
