I enjoy these kind of games on a solo level but with the posibility of multiplayer, so I will host my own server for friends to join as and when they like, but they can do their own stuff in game, my base is my base xD
I'm sure there will be more 'end game' content to come although I have not looked into what current 'end game' might be on purpose to give myself some enjoyment of the playthrough and not know everything to come.
I am not trying to sound like I'm dredging here, I hope I am wrong because I really want to play this but can't justify buying ANOTHER game that has very little to do in a very large area and play it until the repetitive game loop weens me off playing. I know they'll add more and more, but will that come at a cost?
A world this vast needs lots of stuff to discover, and right now it seems like there just won't be enough. Fortunately EA has just started so I'm optimistic something like more biomes, pals, crafting stuff and some story events and/or quests will follow.
There's a solid basis here that they can do some serious building on top of on.
This is something that I would love to see happen again. As Aj said, there is a solid base for the game and all they have to do is keep cramming stuff into it. Lets just hope they can do this without succumbing to greed to do it. Fingers crossed.
I am specifically asking about the end game. Games either have an end with credits or they tout themselves as open world RPG sandboxes. If you want to be the later you have to provide something after the story is finished. MMOs are a good example. It isn't about the grind, its about activities. MMOs will have raids and games and like FF14 have world events and its end game is basically a fashion parade in Limsa. You can't have people complete the quest line then leave them standing in a field wondering what they can do. They will go play something else is what they will do. I am saying that what I have seen so far is that there are a handful of things to do on your list and once you've done them... none of it seems replayable, so what are we going to do?
Access
I am not comparing it to MMOs, I am using them as an example of if you make something that is huge and open you must have things to do after your MQL. Yes, they don't HAVE to add more, but their claims were pretty lofty and the hype made it out to be so indepth and crazy big. Take Zelda for example, the way it was sold, massive world, lots to do, MQL and side quests, story ends, game over. This was sold as a huge open world with lots to do... not talk of a narrative or story end. That means you HAVE to add a lot more than just the MQL, a few side quests and a repetivite grind loop.
If that is all there is, cool, I'm OK with this if that is what is advertised.
I am merely voicing my concerns that it looks shallow at the moment and hope that a lot more is added. I am quite exicited about the potential of this. These concerns rise from the developer being known for pumping out something surface level then ditching it or doing bare minimum.
I mean they just made a billion dollars in early access. I get the feeling they're gonna go ham adding stuff now. Or they'll abandon it and move on to the next project.
But this is the sort of game I'm right into and they have added a few things that I have been wanting in these types of games for some time. All the fingers are crossed.
Just Look at the Palworld Twitter for the current road map of features.
Its going to get those late game updates over the coming months.
