You should activate cross-play at least in the Steam and PC game pass versions because it is the same on PC.

At this current moment in time, there is no available crossplay, however in the Early Access FAQ, Palworld Devs have mentioned they will add it in at a later date.

If you want to play with a bunch of friends on release, it'll be easier if everyone uses the same platform (Steam or Xbox/Gamepass), but they can go to their preferred platform at a later time.
