"Pull yourself along against the current"

On the get through flooded engineering area. What am i supposed to do? A tooltip pops up saying press space and right mouse but that doesnt do anything at all.

I have the same issue. I pulled myself along the bars but then when I hit the gap it says to hit space and right mouse to launch myself forward but it doesn't do it. I literally can't get across the gap. I actually had a similar issue earlier in the game when it asked for that same button combo to swim faster. I died a couple times and ending up getting through it without using that button combination but now at this section, I can't get through without it. Anyone know why that button combo doesn't seem to work for me? I know right click and space both work fine because we have to press them constantly throughout the game. It's just when I have to use them in combination that it doesn't seem to do anything.

The controls are super ♥♥♥♥♥♥, I suggest looking up a video of someone doing it on yt. I'll try to explain tho. You want to just hold rmb and w like you would climbing at first and then once you get to prompt where it says press space LOOK UP and then as you are jumping aim down holding rmb. Then shift your ass out up the ladder. It is EXTREMELY unintuitive.

I had this same issue - while climbing against the current, make sure to look forward, not down, to get the prompt to pull yourself onwards. If the camera is angled downwards it won't appear.

cutscenes would have been better, the mechanics of swimming wre very poorly implemented

This part was pretty janky. The prompt flashes on the screen briefly and the first time this happens you are in an area where you can actually just swim regularly. The second time it will be required to survive
