Its probably because you have it set to Low I am assuming (which you probably have no choice). A lot of times by default in UE5+ if you drop the settings to medium or lower it removes Global Illumination or lowers it to a really low level to where it makes everything bright. They probably kept it default for performance reasons, but you can actually go in and customize everything manually, but it will reduce performance once you start raising back up Global illumination and shadows.

i have manually tweaked graphics. still looks gam as hell. Could be a driver issue. Ill test on my desktop pc

Just in case anyone else picks up this discussion thread. It runs absolutely perfectly on Steam Deck. No matter what i tried it looked absolutely terrible on ROG Ally.

I have same issue, I finished the game on my computer > home cinema but I was curious to try it on my ally Z1 extreme
strange thing, 900p + ultra settings + fsr 3 it runs at more than 40fps but it seems there is an issue with light effects !
maybe a driver update is needed !

Turn lighting off of Epic. Epic adds Lumen which is a form of ray-tracing. It's the single biggest FPS killer.

Same here. Glad to know I am not the only one. I have all the settings at Epic, but also tried high and medium at different resolutions but the game just doesn’t render shadows or lighting.

ROGAllyLife has a guide for the game with custom settings and they posted some screenshots where the game looks just fine. So it does work on the Ally but not for everyone. Very strange and disappointing. It works absolutely fine on my 3080 desktop pc.

It could be driver related? I played it on my desktop pc, absolutely no probs. Then tested on my Steam Deck, runs well enough but FPS not amazing. So tried for longer on ROG and the weird thing is the lighting fixed itself in certain areas. It looked as expected on some of the outside areas and in cutscenes. But once I transitined to another area it would load again and lighting would go back to overexposed and washed out.
