FATAL ERROR
followed by a black screen and the game stuck for over a minute before closing.
got catched by a critter during a stealth section in the machine room (3 hours in).

just sharing this because it's my first hard game crash since Starfield, but in Starfield it's a feature so...

My crash happened here too - cannot get back into the game either.

sup
i had 3 consecutive black screen hanging when changing level to accomodations at the start of the game. what helped was lowering the upscaling quality and reverting to higher setting when it successfully transitions to the level.

Same here except I can't even start it. I get "UE-Habitat Game has crashed and will close". I guess I need a better laptop before I can play it :sadMio:
Fatal Error is an Unreal engine thing and usually means that the install is borked. Checking the file integrity with Steam might fix it.

Hey there.

This doesn't sound good at all!

Can I have peeps PC specs and whether you're on the Steam or Gamepass versison?

Thanks!

AM5 / Ryzen 7800X3D
64 GB DDR5 6000
Nvidia RTX 3080
Steam Version
Win11 Pro 23H2

had no further crashes thus far but sound issue after a chase sequence while heading back to the cantina the sound failed, no more dialoge was played and only some ambient was playing.

anyways, both times a game restart just fixed it.

I'm a bit lost with the specs side of things, but I'm pretty sure I did the 'verify file integrity thing' properly and it all came back fine. As near as I can find (with some help lol) my specs are :
Device name DESKTOP-O6RMJO9
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-1005G1 CPU @ 1.20GHz 1.19 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00 GB (7.75 GB usable)
Device ID 9642E1BA-C59D-4150-9853-EA478BFD7018
Product ID 00356-02362-98847-AAOEM
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Did I do that right?

You do just scrape in above the minimum specs on Memory and CPU but your GPU may not be good enough to play Still Wakes the Deep - do you know if your laptop has a discrete graphics card eg Nvidia or AMD GPU?

I don't know. How do I find out?

Type "System" into the windows search bar in bottom left.
Select "System Information"
In the list on the left, expand (+) Components and select Display
In the list on the right see what the "Name" of your display adapter is and write it back here. If there are two or more items in the list, write all the "Name" results down.

I also have fatal crashes. Mine ar related to "water tanks" level, I can't move forward because it crashes every time I start moving around that place.

Specs:
AM4 / Ryzen 5800X3D
32 GB DDR4 3600Mhz
Nvidia RTX 3070
Steam Version
Win11 Pro 23H2

edit.

Okay, it's drivers, the game absolutely requires the newest Nvidia drivers to work properly.

As near as I can tell, I have nothing but the stock standard thing that comes with this particular laptop. I can't see anything at all with 'GPU' in the name and nothing that looks like it'd be related to graphics aside from "Intel(R) UHD Graphics"
