What would it feel like to be "consumed by the monster"

Kinda curious as to what it might feel like because would you just die? or would take on a role of the monsters system but have access to other parts peoples memory that fell victim to the monster as you did or would it create a hive mind I'd imagine it hurting basically assembling into the monster as your skin cells change and mold into a horrible amalgamation of flesh rope seems to be in pain when you meet him at the terminal but he still sort of seems there as he was ripped apart and spread across the room. But I get this feeling that it wouldn't hurt at all because it might change your nerves so that it would feel normal. This game spawns so many ideas I love it so much!!
