I didn’t have any trouble distinguishing Finlay’s gender at all. I also just assumed everyone was going by their last names?

Apparently not. I thought it was obvious, everyone I watched play the game knew immediately. I don't like to blame social media, but people have really tainted themselves with what they expect women and men to look like.

for me it's the voice. sounds like a man with a high-pitched voice.
Trust me as a Brit I have seen Scottish women that look like this, (British women as well) so I could immediately tell.

I think this sort of confusion would happen a lot less if some of y'all met more women and expanded your horizons a bit.

Yes, it is, hence why I found the way you worded your post so ridiculous.

Because trying to find figures for Piper Alpha only brings up 167 men dying, and that of the 59 survivors 36 were men, and even those 36 I'm inferring from the wording of a psychology paper.

Also yer statement seems a bit contradictory. Somebody working offshore would be working offshore, whether it be maintenance, drilling, or admin. The rough stats I'm using dinna exclude non-drilling staff (so admin, maintenance, medical (none of the characters are medical anyway) and culinary staff), else I'd be saying 27 named characters. Point still stands that it's nae unrealistic to find a woman on the rig
I never said it was unrealistic for women to be offshore, i'm saying the game has 0 representation of the roles they would for the most part have actually had.

My dad worked on the BP Magnus field during the 80s as a pipefitter, he said there were numerous women engineers at the time, plus support staff (medical, catering, admin, cleaning)
Did he aye

Yeah I didn't notice at first either. But so what, happens in real-life sometimes too.

No they are separate to the British, just as the Welsh are.

They live on the same island, the top north of the lsland is Scotland, here's a map

They even have their own flag.

Strange I know.

Part of me is happy that yer nae calling Scottish "British"

Another part is asking who the ♥♥♥♥ ye think the British are then, and suspects yer conflating English with British (which is part of why I hate the "Scottish = British" label, because of ignorant (mostly) Americans making that assumption)

They are in fact not separate. Who do you think "British" are then? You think only the English are British? Britain encompasses Wales, Scotland, and England. As someone with a UK flag in their bio it's surprising you're having a difficult time with this. Here's a map: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/80/Great_Britain_%28orthographic_projection%29.svg/1024px-Great_Britain_%28orthographic_projection%29.svg.png

Therefore it's completely valid question to ask without being a condescending ♥♥♥♥. Strange I know.

It's worse than that. The guy who posted that has a UK flag in his Bio. I'm not even from the UK and even I know better than him
