There are the same amount of chase scenes, sneak events, dodging events, and whatnot. I'm not sure if Story Mode was actually supposed to be easier, but it was so marginally that I didn't notice when I accidentally reset it to Standard Mode when I dropped my controller.
The monsters are still 100% present and they will still immediately chase if they see you. I didn't notice much of a difference between the AI, either; both during Story Mode and after I activated Standard, if I wasn't careful, they immediately saw me. And when you throw something too many times as a distraction, they do start noticing where it's coming from if you don't move around. So the AI doesn't lose intelligence, it didn't feel like, either.
But I didn't see it going out of its way this time to attack me if it saw me. I tested this with Trots, purposefully walking in around in front of him to see if he would attack, and he didn't. He only killed me because he proceeded to move around and continue his patrol, and I just happened to be in the way. Chase sequences though will still happen. Story mode doesn't seem to affect those.
