100%'d the game in 5.5 hours. No replay value, not that that's an issue, but just informing you if that's what you want.

It's straightforward in its presentation. If you like what you see in the videos, you'll like the game. If you enjoyed the Room series, you'll like the game.

Sound design was all right, visual presentation was pretty but plagued with some assets that were either way too low poly, way too low resolution, or both. They stuck out like sore thumbs, so it isn't going to be perfect, but it does what it says it'll do: give you puzzle dioramas to solve. Lots of machinery and mechanisms to play with and troubleshoot, and they are satisfying designs to witness moving around.

It wasn't very difficult, save for a couple parts for me, but I think I just missed something obvious during those times. You aren't going to be in for anything super challenging or frustrating, it's more leisurely and light thinking.

Only thing I'd say is that it probably should be around $10. $15 is too much, just a feeling. I got it on sale for 10% off for $13.49, and while I had fun, I feel like I paid a bit much for what was given.

Recommended with caveats...
If you like casual puzzle games, you *may* like this one.

None of the puzzles are terribly difficult.
Some are merely tedious.
Some require *almost perfect* timing and precise aim.
A few are just annoying.

If you are looking for a complex puzzle game that requires lots of thought and logical thinking skills, this may not be the one for you.

The game runs beautifully, no hitching, no crashes. no fps spiking.
Not many settings to adjust to tweak the game to run, though.
Top res is 2560 x 1440. All seem to be 16:9 aspect ratio resolutions.
You may be able to use custom launch parameters to adjust this if needed for your monitior (no guarantee- I only have 16:9 monitors on my machines).

Accessibility:
The game uses no spoken text, no audio clues. Just sound effects for some actions, and background music.
Would be playable for Deaf and HoH gamers.

Playable with one hand- mouse only.
No controller compatibility found though, so I cannot say if the game will work with a custom Accessibility Controller set-up.

Some of the color combinations used could make this game unplayable for people with certain forms of color-blindness. Lots of red/green. pink/red, orange/teal-green, and blue/green used in the art and puzzles. *I cannot say if playing using color-blindness system settings on your machine will work or not- I honestly did not test it.)

*Most* text is large and bold enough to read easily- for me. There are no text scaling settings in the game.
Some of the art, items you need to find, and puzzles themselves use small scale imagery, or may be faded our behind blurring or other effects.
Could be problematic for people with certain vision conditions or low-vision.
I also did not test with a screen reader- so I cannot say if the game will work with the most common ones available, paid or free.

I have arthritis and slow reflexes, and did manage to complete the puzzles that required timing and good aiming, but some did take several tries.

Some of the puzzles were trial-and-error, and others just made no sense (the story goes all over the place too)- may be problematic for some folks with neuro-divergent conditions.Some things just don't make sense in the game.

Hints and "skip puzzle" are freely available, no need to earn points to use them, no apparent cooldown. So if a puzzle has you stumped- you can feel free to use either one as much as you like without penalty (helpful if a child is playing too).

The game does delve into some dark places, including nuclear disasters, war, satanism/paganism, and a general "humanity has screwed itself over" theme. No blood or gore, no violence against anything besides inanimate objects. Some political undertones, that are open to interpretation by the player.

*Should* be fine for younger children with parental supervision and assistance (you are likely to get asked to explain a bunch of stuff that may not be easy to explain). Teens should have no issues with any of it- if they use any social media, they have likely already encountered the subject matter and have a basic understanding of old events being referenced.

The art is lovely.
The music is fine, though I did need to turn the volume down- for the music and some of the sound effects for some actions (explosions and breaking things, for instance).

I have seen some people saying the achievements are bugged because they cannot unlock the last two (finding all scrolls and gems and unlocking all other achievements). Pro Tip- they work just fine, but the 2 final scenarios at the end of each chapter have scrolls that are well hidden or do not appear until you are part-way through. I had two of those final scenarios where I had not found the scroll, and had to replay those levels to find them. Once I did, the final 2 achievements popped.

Level selection is nice- you can replay any level you like or need to find a gem or scroll in, and once found, you can stop playing that level and it will update on the level select menu. No need to completely replay a level doe to missing a gem or scroll.

It was okay. Not as much of a "brain power needed" challenging puzzler as I had hoped for, but fine for passing time., Levels are quick- 5-15 minutes for most.
I got the game in a deeply discounted bundle- I do not think I would be happy if I had paid full price.
Grab at a discount if you are new to puzzlers, or to play with a younger child (with your help).
But if you are looking for something complex, with challenging puzzles- avoid.

I loved Doors: Paradox! Just the type of casual puzzle game that is fun, colourful and taxes your mind. It does not have the depth of story that House of Da Vinci has; or the complex puzzles of The Room series or the cuteness of Cats in Time. So people looking for hard puzzles, this is NOT for you as it only has moderate difficulty.
I delight in these sort of games where you push buttons, pull levers, open cupboards to see what happens. It indulges the inquisitive child within you as you marvel at the mechanics and physics of the puzzles. In chapter 3 there were some spectacular results from your hard work!
Doors: Paradox is just one 3D diorama after another whereby you need to open each door which is a portal to the next puzzle. A black cat is your guide. There are 2 gems and a scroll to find on each diorama. Each diorama has an distinctive theme and towards the end of chapter 3, an element of horror creeps in.
There have been complaints that there is no story. The scrolls are like little vignettes about the human race and the temptation that power always has over us. Power can result in chaos or order and these opposites have always been in conflict. With power comes consequences good or bad and we all have to make a decision sometime in our lives which one to choose. The scrolls were constantly warning us that you can't go back from an action because effects and consequences always flows from it. Maybe it was too deep for some to understand because it did resonate with me.
Price is another issue, but I bought mine during the winter sales. Most people solve it in 5-10 hours. Being a slowcoach it was good value for money for me. I never got bored as you can let your imagination soar!
The beauty of this game is that you can dip in and out of it. Most dioramas took about 5-10mins to complete. So good for those who can't play games for an hour.
A warning for colourblind people that there are many coloured puzzles in this game. Sorry! Gameplay was simple with a zoom function to get closer to a puzzle. Music was unintrusive and valid for each diorama theme. The sound effects of the mechanics of the game were excellent.
Highly recommend! I can't wait for the next game from Big Loop Studios. 8.5/10

Great puzzle game. Not too difficult, which is fine in my book. Not every puzzle game needs to be double Mensa level difficulty. This was just plain fun from start to finish.

However, the game ended without anything special. You would think all those silly scrolls you were collecting all game, with so-called thought provoking statements would be leading up to something. But no, just finish the last puzzle and kaput. Sorry for the spoiler, but it's not really one because there really isn't any story to speak of in this game. Just a great collection of puzzles.

Definitely worth it for all you puzzle fans. Play it, beat it, and move on to the next puzzle game, which will undoubtedly be 57 times harder than this one, like most puzzle games tend to be. This was a nice change of pace from the brutality. Recommended!

Child-friendly version of The Room games.

Understand the target demographic before buying this game.

This game is not hard. Not even a little bit.

The puzzles are very simple. I would say more puzzles than not I just clicked through mindlessly without any thought, and of the others none really stood out as difficult. Even the secret tokens for bonus levels are almost always in plain sight and when they are not they are in very obvious locations.

This game is satisfying.

The set pieces and sound design in particular are very pretty, and are most of what holds the player's attention. The mechanical whirring and clicks of machinery opening in particular where very nicely done.

tl;dr
If you're new to puzzle games, want something easy yet satisfying, or are looking to buy this game for someone to introduce them to puzzle games, then it is a good game at a fair price.

If you're not new to puzzle games, and you feel the above conditions do not apply to you, seek a game elsewhere.

Doors Paradox is a casual puzzle game, where the objective is to escape through a locked door by finding items located around the 3D diorama and using them to your advantage. Solve mini puzzles, push, pull and twist objects to reveal hidden items, and observe the scenery for clues.

Doors Paradox is a fun game, but it may not challenge those looking for a difficult puzzle game. That’s not to say I didn’t get stuck a few times trying to solve puzzles, as they don’t come with any objectives or instructions, so that can prove problematic, but I didn’t have much trouble working out where objects had to be placed. On the rare occasion you might get stuck, there is a hint button, which pin points exactly where you should be concentrating your efforts, and even a skip puzzle, if a puzzle is proving too difficult.

When you use these options is completely up to you, making the game as stress free as you like. If you want to scratch your head and think about things, you can do so, but if you feel frustrated, you can just move on. This makes it a very casual affair, and the soundtracks and imaginative locales reinforce the chill factor.

If you’ve played games like “Cats in Time” or to a lesser extent the “Da Vinci” series, then you’ll know what to expect. Presented with a 3D diorama of a scene, spin around it looking for items to pick up, or look for places that may be manipulated, like opening shutters or pulling, pushing, or twisting things. Areas are always very small, and any points of interest can be zoomed into to investigate.

Once picked up, items appear in your inventory, and you have to search the area for places where you think the item may fit. For example, the item could be a spanner, to unscrew a bolt, or a hammer to knock a nail in. You will need to use your judgement how that item may be used. Some items are more obvious and their shape fits into a crevice or on a puzzle, usually initializing a mini puzzle.

Solving puzzles, or using items successfully, usually results in receiving another item, until eventually the item you do receive is the one needed to open the door and escape to the next level.

In each scene there is a scroll and two gems to be found. One gem relates to chaos, and one gem relates to order. Collect all of the gems on each level to unlock special levels relating to these states of mind. Unravelling the scroll reveals a very brief proverb or a commentary on the state of the human psyche, or the direction the human race is travelling.

There are three chapters, with a total of fifty-two levels and the six bonus levels.

It took me around ten hours to complete everything to one hundred percent.

Things start off pretty basic, acting like a tutorial, and the first chapter is the least imaginative and least difficult of the three. It probably outstays its welcome on this front, as I was waiting for things to get more complicated, or involved, but it never quite happened. I got a slight feeling that it all felt a bit too similar, but nonetheless it was still enjoyable.

The second chapter ramps up slightly in difficulty and the environments are much more imaginative. My favourite dioramas were the interactive ones, creating consequences for your actions, or producing nice special effects. These seemed to be more prevalent in chapter three, and I found myself leaving chapter two to indulge in the visual feasts on offer elsewhere.

I still would have liked to have seen more in the special effects department though. There were some memorable dioramas with explosions, and entertaining outcomes to puzzle solutions, but the bar didn’t remain high for the whole experience. I think that is something they could improve on in their next effort. Go big, bold, and more interactive!

Each level had its own distinctive theme, like futuristic, Aztec, tribal, and even light horror themes! This helps to distinguish between levels and keep things fresh. Some of them were impressible and very creative. Considering that the game is very similar in design throughout, the game does a good job of keeping your interest, although I did find that I tended to play in regular short bursts, to keep it even fresher.

I would describe the puzzles as manageable in most circumstances. Some were easy, some were moderate, and some were very difficult, or difficult to understand the concept. I did have to skip a couple of puzzles, but it doesn’t necessarily affect gameplay, unless there is an achievement associated with it, as sometimes there is.

Most of the time, I had to think about things, and there was some trial and error, so I was satisfied in the main with the difficulty of the puzzles. After all, I think this is meant to be designed as a casual experience, rather than a challenging test.

There were a couple of design flaws which hindered progress, but once you encounter these, and understand them, then you can bypass them with a little care. For example, sometimes, you are certain that you know the solution to a particular facet but it just isn’t behaving as you would expect. Why is that spanner not loosening the screw? It’s because you are not fully zoomed in enough! You need to zoom in further before the mechanics work. I also had problems with a couple of puzzles due to my unusual resolution and widescreen. I had to reduce the size of the screen for the puzzle to work properly.

Some puzzles will require a pen and paper to note down symbols, numbers or descriptions of some sort, as the solution will be on one side of the scene, and the puzzle on the other, so unless you have a very good memory, you’ll need to jot it down.

The other thing I didn’t like was that there is no recording of how many jewels or scrolls you have collected so far, and if you forget, you may well end up looking for something you already have. Also, if you open the door to exit the level, you then cannot search the area for the jewels or scroll, which was a little annoying having to start the level again to attain them.

It’s not a story as such, but rather a bizarre and fragmented commentary on humans' greedy, foolhardy and rash nature as a species. It also refers to decisions made in your life that you may have regretted or key pivotal moments. I guess it is all to do with the themes of chaos and order, which ties into the bonus sections, but it’s a little odd, and doesn’t flow very well. I think it is more of a gimmick than any serious attempt at providing a narrative.

Doors Paradox is a colourful, imaginative, and entertaining game, that will keep casual puzzle lovers busy for a while. It has a very relaxed feel, and is perfect to unwind and experience the different themes, whilst listening to the jaunty soundtrack and special effects.

I would have liked to have seen more of the ambition demonstrated by some of the levels, with some wonderful special effects and creative outcomes, as some dioramas felt a bit flat in comparison.

Overall, it’s a very nice game. Perhaps a decent story tying it together would elevate it even further.

This is an absolute gem.

I figured my sons (9 & 7) would like this, so I picked it up and asked them if they'd like to "open a couple of doors" before bedtime. It's since become a regular thing - we'll open 2-3 doors together and it's a wonderful little but of Us Time that we spend together. I absolutely love seeing them figure bits out.

We've wishlisted the follow-up title (Boxes?) already. Can't wait.

A straightforward, relaxing puzzle game. You will be presented with a locked door, which you'll have to find a solution to open, and you'll find a beautiful black kitty who leaves you messages at each stage. The game is relatively easy; I found it quite relaxing and perfect for playing and relaxing after a long day at work.

There are three chapters, and each chapter has different stages. Chapter 1 has 22 doors, and chapters 2 & 3 each have 18 doors to solve a long with collectibles and notes to find. The soundtracks are beautiful but will become repetitive at some point.

The graphics are excellent, and each stage has its style and color. The game is in 3D, where you can rotate the door and check each part to pick up items, helping you assemble another item to unlock the door.
