Are we supposed to love and forgive Olive?
I've just finished my play through and as much as I enjoyed it, I'm not too satisfied with the ending. Olive made a bunch of easy mistakes at the start with dawn but the moment she abandoned the cat in the middle of nowhere, there was no coming back from that.
Both Mae, how I wish I landed a scratch or two on her face, and Olive were unforgivable in their actions and Dawn deserved better.
The only decent character was the little boy and I think that should have been explored as a possible way in for Dawn to have a forever home.

Olive is old and seriously sick, as much as I disliked her actions, I *could* try to understand and forgive. Mae on the other hand... she has no excuses.

100% agree with you on all of this, i genuinely cannot see why we would go back to olive after everything she did😭 basically just left dawn for dead, didn't even bother bringing her back to the adoption shelter or anything

Counter question: What is more important?

A person who is ill or a cat who is up to mischief?

I think this old lady has done the best for the cat. Despite the illness, the old lady takes care of it. So a little more respect for sick and old people!

Seriously? Dawn would've been better off in a shelter again than thrown into the wild, in the middle of NOWHERE, an intentional decision made by Olive. She did not do "what was best for the cat". There was ZERO reason for her to abandon her like she did, sick and old does NOT matter. Mae I could understand, she was a ♥♥♥♥♥ from the start AND threw out the first cat with no hesitation, but the ending was so botched with making Olive the villain.

I don't believe that. Olive was an old woman who wanted to take care of a cat at the end of her life. She didn't see what Mae did. Olive didn't realize later that it was a different cat because they looked the same. Age also plays a role here. Animal welfare or not, loving cats is all well and good, but Olive wanted to give this cat a good home.

And she did that by dropping her off in the middle of nowhere?? Even if she thought Dawn was a stray, she STILL should've taken her to the shelter. Judging by the fact so many people have issue with this very specific section of the game, it's clear Olive doesn't get a pass just because she's sick and old. She made the DECISION to do something just as awful as Mae.

This.
Tbh i feel a bit empty now... it would be better if we really had a choice for our ending ..not that..

After olive and her daughter did this horrible things to Dawn2 (and the daughter to Dawn1 before) - i just looked up to my both adopted cats and told them that i would never leave them voluntary (and if something happens to me, I have taken precautions).
I couldn't understand how you can choose to be like that to your family member that you choosed before! You decided to give a forever Home not a "oh well let's look how long it's the best for me not for you" Home.
And old and sick isn't an excuse. As my grandma got sick and died - i took her cat until his time had come. Even if i had an old sick cat at this time. Special Situations need creative methods. It works - if you really want it, you find a way. And if you really cant take this - ok - than try at least to search a forever home. Shelter mostly don't have the capacity for all the cats so if you really love your cat, than it's the least you can do. But a Shelter would be still a better way than abandon your cat in wildlife.

Olive is a flawed person. I get that. She's old, she's sick, and she's lonely. She can't even take care of herself. She wants a companion in her final days. The problem is that Olive is not in a position to be a good caregiver to a pet. She could die at any moment, then what happens to the pet? That's all fine, lots of potential for a story.

But the situation reaches a point she... ABANDONS THE PET, out in the wilds even! She doesn't take it back to the shelter, she doesn't try to find it a new home. She does just about the worst thing possible short of tossing it over a bridge.

Olive is a very selfish person at heart. She puts her desire for company ahead of the cat's needs. If that was the point of the story, then it left the game on a very sour note.

YES! She's a terrible person. Replacing your pet when it got lost (being unsupervised outdoors. how could this happen?) is ust sick for starters. I dont care if she's sick or old or anything. Both Dawn and Sunshine were treated like objects.
