Meet our team! 🐾

Dear kittens,
If we haven't met already, our names are Sam & Kostia. We've been working on this game since 2021. In 2022, we onboarded our composer, Dan. Since then, the three of us have been stretching our creative muscles to bring Copycat to life. (Here's a snap of us in the sound studio recording our voice talent last May).

We thought it would be fun to share our roles and responsibilities for the game. Perhaps you are interested in game development yourself. Or perhaps you are keen to get to know us better. Either way, we hope you enjoy these short videos we made.

BUG // Stuck in the car

Hey friends! As few of our wonderful players mentioned, there's a bug that stop players from moving past the car scene. As previous patch did solve it for some and didn't for others, we're working on a more complex fix, it should come through today. We are a tiny team of 2 and things take time to troubleshoot. Thank you for your patience :)...

Finally, a big thanks to Sam Cable, our Co-Founder and Chief Cat Cuddler. Curious about what Sam gets up to every day? Check out this short video as Sam discusses her journey as Narrative Director on Copycat.

"My role as head of narrative and co-director means I try to champion the story through every stage of development. I help describe the world for the art director, plan out movement cues for the animator, and suggest vocal cues for the actors. One of my favourite parts of the creative process was seeing our dialogue come to life. We had a three-day studio record, where we were able to work directly with our actors to sculpt the emotions and intensity of the scene. We averaged about 200 lines a day between our lead actors. At the same time, focusing on intonation, clarity and vibrancy of the dialogue."

Copycat // Steam Next Fest Demo

Hey friends! We hope you're as excited about the Steam Next Fest as we are.

Some of our favourite streamers and content creators had a chance to try the demo early. Join us to see their reactions, enjoy some cat gameplay and learn more about Copycat. We will also be in chat during the stream, so feel free to ask any questions or tell us your favourite cat stories.

My feelings on this demo

I have had this game wishlisted for awhile and was so excited to see there was a demo to play! Overall I like how the game looks and like the idea of a narrative adventure game. The sound design and gameplay variety seem good so far. I didn't experience any bugs, but I will say jumping is a bit difficult and floaty. I'm sure that will be improved in the future. My biggest issue echos what another person said in their feedback which is that I really disliked only being able to choose negative reaction...

Motion sickness from cat control

I get MS pretty frequently, but as I'm also almost a 40 year old gamer, I know there are many fixes. Please add the option to remove motion blur, minimize draw distance, control FPS (locked 60 as a favorite), and remove fish eye effect. I lasted about 3 minutes after you get control of the cat. I love cats, and love to play this game without feeling sick. Interesting idea, thank you....
