Best way to transport resources?

Hi, I want to accrue some ore resources with my drills. It feels cumbersome to travel to all locations and collect the ore. Does it make sense to make long conveyer belts leading back to main base? Or is there a better solution? Curious if this is the intended design for the game?

Once you are able to craft portals, make them and place one by the drill site. If you are okay with mods, get the mod that removes the cool-down for portals.

Alternative to crafting portals, and far earlier to access. Make a crude drill and a power source. Take it to a new world. Find glurch and more imortantly, his waypoint. Place drill aimed at the waypoint and power it. After a few seconds, it will pull it up for collection. Repeat with more worlds as you see fit. Also, WAY more cost-effective than crafting portals.

What I did when I started was I mined 4 lines directly N, E, W, S as far and in a straight line. Laid down conveyor belts as needed and used the train and tracks to get back and forth until I could make portals. Setting up the conveyor belts early on will help you tap into them later when you find more ore boulders. Just mark the boulders on your map every time you find them..... I didn't know about that until way later on in game so save yourself the headache. Oh and my conveyor belts go all the way to the outside ring with the pandorium(?) ore.

I moved the boss portals in my current world, only occassionaly warping to pick up resources.

For the odd bit of ore for repairing low teir gear, I've taken to buying from the shop keeper when they restock, I'll come back to mass ore extraction when I can afford the drills in the first place.

I use long conveyors. It's also nice when exploring and your inventory fills, just dump it all on the conveyor and deal with it when you get back to the core.
