Ran out of wood can't plant root seed
first time playing, collected all the wood made some stuff, ran out of wood and couldn't make more stuff (torches namely). What's the deal? coz you can't plant a core seed without wood apparently LOL. does wood slowly regen or something? surely the game isn't meant to bottom out that easily?

There's wood all around the dirt region, but if you really ran out you can always make another world and take your main character into it. When you get a seed, you don't need to break it to get wood. You can leave the "root" planted and it will continue to grow wood all around it forever.

haha yeah i made another world and wood is abundant :) figure the RNG isn't perfect, but i also did an unusual / corner case thing and entirely wasted a single resource, if i'd just made that hoe and i think (?) that water can it would have been fine but i made like 8 axes and 8 shovels and kept clicking the button not knowing i was making heaps of tools lol, then mined in each direction and didn't see any vine/wood. Anyway second play was AWESOME. :) giant beachball slime dude intimidated me, made some glass, good times. pray it lasts until Starfield.

You need to use a Hoe and prepare the dirt, and then you need to plant the seed, and then you need to water it with a Watering Can.

Then it should grow just fine.

Note that it won't grow on rock floors. I don't believe it grows on sand floors either.

Note also, never "harvest" the core, always leave that to regrow.

Yep, the soil has to be wet for the see to grow, but before or after doesn't matter.

My point is that it still takes some basic gardening and some time. But once you've done that, you'll have all the wood you need. Mind you, there's also tons of natural wood in the Aezos Wilderness too.
