Explore more, the biome changes will be more obvious once you start seeing them. Have you found the boss circle? around the starting zone?

If you're still mining dirt you'll usually only find copper. To find tin, you need to be mining clay (pinkish colour). For iron, stone (blue). Just head either north/south or east/west.

Most of my worlds I've found iron before tin too. I think it's because the Clay biome is much smaller than the Stone biome.

That is kinda weird. It might help to visualize the map as something made up of multiple rings. The first ring, comprised of dirt, mostly spreads out till about 150 units on the map, this is where you find a lot of copper. After this, the second ring can be either Clay or stone, depending on the direction, it's mostly a mix. That second ring is where you find most of your starting tin.

With a recent update, we now have coordinates on the map, when you hit around 150 on either number, that's when you should start seeing clay and stone.

There's a lot to explore, and it takes a bit to get your head around the layout, but I think you should find some soon.

i decided to move in multiple direction without wasting time on other stuff. and i finally found it to the left of my iron biome.

it's small.. i didn't found a lot of tin in it. i haven't explored it all yet. hopefully i found more tin ore.

its like this, the starting biome is a circle. theres another circle surrounding it, one half is clay the other half is rock. they are always opposite each other and have no crossover. there will be a clear dividing line where the two biomes meet.

the rest of the biomes follow the same spawning criteria, the only thing thats random is the direction they spawned but they will allways be a % chunk of the map, all in one location. they have sub biomes like the medows but thats considered part of the main biome for spawning purposes

This is a (rough) Biome map. It shows the general distances from the core. Note that in each new world, the map will be rotated differently. Generally, it's best to move North, South, East, and West in a straight line until you at least find Ghorm's track.

And obviously, beware spoilers:
