How do you get the NPCs to come to your village?

Hi, so I built a room with a bed, a stool, table and dresser, and got the dude that sells seasonal items, but after I killed the blob boss, another guy with a big beard popped for a moment, and I learned that I could build another house for him, and put an item I looted inside as well.
So I did that, but so far he has not appeared.
Any tips?

Your room block needs to have a bed, the npc spawn item and a door.

Yeah there is all of that present in the room,it's a 4x4 painted floor and walls, door, bed, table and stool, dresser, lantern and torch, painting,and the "slime oil" item is on a stone pedestal.
I went to explore far away and came back, but so far, no bearded vendor. He is supposed to *pop* right when the conditions for the room are met, right?

According to the wiki, you only need the spawner item, a door and a bed with at least a 2x2 minimum interior (so theres 1 tile for the merchant to stand on between bed and spawner item), and i suspect the spawner item needs to be placed down *directly*.
Putting it on a pedestal is likely why it doesnt work for you.

Unless you don't have a the thing to spawn them at all. You going find your self a build conveyor belt path to your base to slowly move them there.
