How do you get rid of hive acid?

It does alot of damage and I cant seem to get rid of it with any tools

Depending on the acid, a hoe should work as well.

It works with any shovel. Wield the shovel, right-click on the respective tile, and the acid should be removed from the ground and put in your inventory.

The instance when this didn't work for me, was when there is something else on the tile that the shovel can't remove. In those cases, I had to remove that object with a pickaxe first.

Agree with what Psyringe typed. I was having a problem removing tiles too and realized it was because I was clicking my left mouse button (attack by default) and not the right mouse button. Once I made that change, it worked.
