Just yesterday i killed 2 groups of cavelings. First 3 normal and an ogre. The 2nd group had 4 normal and a wizard. Somehow later both hunted me down again and again until i restarted the world. And i wasn´t even close their "town", haven´t even found it on my new map.
Had something similar on a dedicated server with larvas who rushed the base completely.
And permanently with the mold-guys in their dungeon. They do even spawn somewhere in the nowhere just to hunt you down 5 minutes later in their own dungeon (Which assists my following claim since it always takes a bit longer to progress in the named dungeons.)
And and and...
As said, i´m sure this is a killing / spawning issue. Just an idea how it works:
The game itself has a spawntime where it spawns new mobs everywhere possible. So maybe you just killed them, they should spawn again 10s, but you block their spawn since nothing can (should) spawn in close range to you.
So this guys are placed somewhere else, but have a hidden trigger on you since they first would´ve spawned directly next to you.
Another thing could be "killed by range weapons out of THEIR aggro-range" since i never encountered it when i meleed enemies down who.
I´m pretty sure if you restart the world it´s gone too.
I also want to see more of these raids, it was actually fairly fun and thrilling. I know people who hate raids, especially in other games, I however want to keep seeing small patrols keep coming at your base, or at least patrolling. As long as they don't go outright carnage I'm all find an dandy with them roaming around my base (up to my base).
I really want to know what triggers these "raids", they were fun, just like with the Barbarians in a Civilization game. Once you progress too far everything just becomes "too boring", but not in typed meaning. It loses it's meaning - "lost in translation".
"OMG! A RAID!" - that itself is memorable and fun. Just as long as you can fend it off and clear it, that's a fun mechanic. They appeared to have died off on my end. No more raids. We're on alert for no reason right now.
But yeah.... in short, I want drawbridges and reinforced gates. Even more of these raids.
So, my mob-farm got thrashed by Cavelings. Several times.
It never happened before in 50h+ play, although the stone-biome is discovered long ago, there were a lot of fights with Cavelings there, they seem never chase my character to my base. Also, I organised nice big location with Clay Moss in Clay Caves to spawn Skirmishers and Spearmen there and this works as expected for many hours.
What i did is I've added several interlacing stripes of different spawning tiles to my mushroom farm. 50 tiles long stripes of Clay Moss, Chrysalis and Ground Slime. No Stone Moss for sure.
After farm walls were thrashed I was not sure if its an outside raid or the somehow spawned from the inside although it never happened in the area with the Clay Moss only. I decided to surround it with moat. Now I can 100% claim they spawn inside as there are no broken walls and it happens almost every spawn event. I believe it is Clay Moss and Chrysalis nearby are the cause of this although I am not sure.
start with one base in the center use it till I beat the first three bosses. then build rails to the outer biomes and build a base in each of those. I also keep my bases very compact that way I'm not wasting more resources then I have too.
