Request: The ability to craft mechanical parts.

We need an excessive amount of them for portals and it seems strange that we can craft advanced electronics and machinery as well as objects using mechanical parts without being able to replicate the mechanical parts themselves. Either that or make the damn merchant stock more of them.

How many portals you plan on making? Merchant stocking more after defeating a certain boss would be nice though. Or just a mechanical boss to farm them from

Is there any way to upvote a feature somewhere? Any of the suggestions made here would suit me as long as there is a way to have more of these mechanical parts.
I just found myself stuck in my base with a low stock of them and my boat inside my grave far away in the sea... Plus I'm already planning portals by sawing loads of coral wood, but I'll be seriously lacking these gears...

No need to be able be able to craft everything / get everything from vendors.... otherwise they could come with a creative mode and call it a day.

I was just wishing for some renewable method for gemstones last night actually. I've been fighting squid boy a lot as I try and get a full set of his armor and I'm starting to get low. He seems to be made of chest pieces.

I'm not sure if parts and gemstones need more sources though. Monsters do drop them pretty often.

It would definitely be convenient to have more sources for both items in your base.
