Fence-blocks are bugged.
Creatures and NPC's can walk through fences when you're not nearby.
Walls work perfectly tho'..

But I've built a farm for Mushrooms, Larva with fences as walls, cus then you'll be able to shoot the creatures without aggroing them. But as the title suggests, anything except players can walk through them.
We (me and a friend) forgot to close the door to one of the NPC's, so he started walking around the base and then we found him at the herb-farm and then in the mushroom farm, both seperated with fences, so he hopped one fence and then another.
This happend when we were more than 100blocks away. (might have something to do with the issue)

I donno. felt like describing it.

Would like the fences to have the same "barrier" as walls, except ur able to shoot through them. Also that you're not able to one-hit them when nothing's (alt Torches) equipped.

I think it may be the mob teleporting glitch, which was supposed to be fixed in the last patch, but seems to have been made worst, in practice.

I've had a mob escape a double walled hole, for example. Others with more extreme examples.

But it might be worth checking fences specifically. Because something else changed with them unexpectedly, too.

Neither me nor my friend experienced any issues with teleportating mobs before, when we used single wall farms. Before we realized the potential ease with fences.
And we have a single wall surrounding the entire base / village and not a single slime has popped into the base since we put the wall up..
So .. they might have fixed the walls, but didnt bother checking the fences. Mayhaps.

The update landed on Friday afternoon, so might just happen to have coincided with the changes you made to your farm.

Mob teleporting isn't dependant on the barrier, they can be moved 10 tiles, or a load more, with no particular pattern. And I'm not sure what the new issue looks like, by comparison.

Mye, might be a coincidence then.
We actually did wall off a much bigger area surrounding the village yuesterday.

We've only had real problems with the Larva farm 10x10, surrounded by fence, walkway and a wall.. they mass spawn outside of the designated area, in the middle of the walkway, destroying all torches.
The Mushrooms and Cavelings rarely spawn outside their designated areas, from what I've seen atleast.
MIght be because they don't aggro on the torches like the Larvas do.

Walls might still be bugged... unless the issue lies with the doors.

I find the best thing for myself is to use the scarlet fence with a space between to run around then add scarlet wall around that. At the entrance have a trench that is 2 wide and 3 long right at the front you can use bridges to get past and take back down.

I have this setup on almost all my farms except slimes which slimes aren't a horrible inconvenience of randomly wandering away. It's the cavelings and mold guys that can be a pain and destructive to my plants nearby.

What I do is have a small room I idle in then I come out and go do my mop up and clean up. Example with the cavling farm - there seems to always be one that gets out but can't cross that trench at the entrance/exit.
