Early game tips?

Picked this up today after eyeing it for some time. So far I kind of feel like I'm just meandering around trying to find copper and seeds for food. My starting location is really close to a boss slime, should I try to make that my first priority?

Also is there any way to quick move stuff from my inventory or from chests? using controller I'm using a controller but I've started using the mouse to move stuff since it's so much faster.

For me, my world also had the slime boss as the closest one so I made that my first boss to take out. So from me, I'd say yes.

Not sure how it works on controller but when you open a chest you can do a quick "Send to chest" option that shows at the bottom right of said chests's Ui. (Nothing to grand like inn Terraria that allows the same but for all chests near you out of your Inventory.)

You definitely can quick move stuff with the controller, I always played controller and had no issues with inventory management. I don't remember the exact combinations, but I think it was holding the bumpers/triggers and pressing A. It had options for moving just 1 thing, half the stack, the whole stack.
