Conveyor belts and robot arms
Since conveyor belts carry monsters, the usually end up wrecking my robots, furnaces and everything in between. Any suggestion how to deal with this? I can't put traps under the belts, there are no turrets, the wall trick doesn't work.

remove spawn tiles near your operation...
build a room... walls/flooring/door (in areas with more dangerous mobs to your machines and chest...) you might also want to dig a pit around said building so they cant get in

hive mobs will go out their way to destroy torches/chest and dig out walls so this needs a pit
cavelings at least in starter area also dig out walls so a pit is needed
mushroom mobs also need a pit as big ones can destroy walls...

note-able areas were you really need to secure area and build a room
ocean area
desert area
crystal area

only one i have not figured out how to secure is the passage dont think its really possible lol
also for more security use traps outside the direct area

for example i surrounded my wood farm/plank farm in traps namely areas were mobs are appearing and getting on to the conveyor belts (as im to lazy to make a room for it)

and lastly make sure you till the ground that also helps a little vs mob spawning

Ouch, I was completely unaware of the existence of spawn tiles. Oh man, now I get it.

The only way to safely build in the Passage is that you don't.

Just build (for this instance, a drill setup) really fast before any of the sulfur worms spawn and then build a long belt to a chest, so when you go back later to retrieve the ore, they won't be right on your setup and destroying it.
