Scarlet Hand Drill Never Needs Repair?

I got a scarlet hand drill, I upgraded it once..

It looks like it takes durability damage but then it refills itself. It is also reinforced.. so the purple bar will go down.. to like maybe 80% or so.. then I'll be mining/exploring and then it's back to 100% and I've never had to repair/reinforce it at all in like 5 or 6 hours..

Is this a bug? Or the way it should work?

That sounds like a bug. I have personally broken the Scarlet Hand Drill repeatedly.

hmm.. ok weird. I definitely don't want to be cheesy.. maybe I'll let my friend try it and see if it does the same for him or try to get another one.. thanks !!

You probably have the Mining skill that auto fix the mining tools "self-mending alloy" +10 to repair every time you mine a wall that contains ore.
