Summons need agro options
you pretty much have to be hit by something or hit it for summons to agro on it, in the time it takes to tag the thing, and the summons to react and do anything you could have killed it yourself with literally any other build. WHY DOES LEFT CLICKING WITH YOUR SUMMON ITEM OUT DO NOTHING, MAKE IT THE "ATTACK THIS" ACTION. also the duration they stick around for the mana cost is awful (i know some stuff boosts the time, but all around they're not great.

They need to better agro things that have agroed you without having to take damage or hit it yourself too. maybe a toggle for how passive or agro they are.

agro range stat perhaps? that can be increased or something, not sure

on poe, they did something like this for golems that made them agro like crazy. was on a unique jewel iirc

It's not a agro range thing you can fix with a stat like this, there's a problem with them agroing AT ALL. Like a basic functionality problem that needs to be fixed.

It's not a agro range thing you can fix with a stat like this, there's a problem with them agroing AT ALL. Like a basic functionality problem that needs to be fixed.

yeah, make the summon a toggle maybe instead of time based, and It'd be good too if instead of summoning one at a time up to your minion cap you summoned all of them at once. because currently it's like you summon 2, out of mana, then a 3rd, out of mana, 4th, ok now you can fight for like 15 seconds, start resummoning (out of mana constantly), and you have to be attacking in between too or the derpy agro won't target anything. it's just bad.

i guess there never will be a auto aggro option or perma minions (or at least never both) because you just could sit there afk and the minions kill stuff, currently if you dont attack the minions stop attacking after 12-15s too (for enemys that you arnt aggro)
other discussions already show that the buffs you gain from the minions are quite good, if they get perma that is a zero interaction buff, couldve just increased a food/potion instead, i know playing a "pure" summoner currently is a bit strange, but the combination with other weapons do hit pretty good, looks like there will be some bigger changes to make a "pure" build more valid and not overpower the combo builds

I mean, terraria made summons permanent and it feels so much more fun.

I personally dislike the summon mechanics for the same reasons stated above.

Make the summons permanent please.

Summoning is so bad that it pissed me off and now I'm here, it's frustrating that the summons wait until you take damage to even do anything and they rarely attack bosses

Summoning is really bad the damage is pathetic the summons barely attack anything at all not to mention Summon sets barely have any defenses at all so if the summons don't attack till your hit your half dead after a single hit. To fix them they need to remove the summon lifespan or lower the mana cost to summon. they need to make them attack on site the second an enemy shows up on screen.

Tried Warlock today and Summons attacked automatically for me every time. Just as long as they are enemies that will attack you. If the enemies are passive ones that won't attack you first, then yes you have to attack them first for your summon to attack them. But for enemies that attack me on sight, my Summon attacked them all right away, I would just run around them and they would kill the enemies.

With that said though, a summon menu would be cool.

you can already farm most mobs AFK with the traps though

Assuming they're also meaning it's sub ideal because if you build one damage type like ranged or melee you can quickly get to the point you're one shotting enemies meanwhile the summons require you to hit them or be "attacked" by them thus taking longer than just shooting or slashing at them. Just my opinion though.
Hmm.... Weird..... I wonder why there no MP potion and no food item to increase MAX MP permanent at all.

Yet you have to wear armor to get bonus MAX MP instead. Oddly that all the magic weapon cost more MP every time you upgrade them.

When all other weapon don't cost ammo and also don't cost stamina at all. Strange.
