I think they need to change the name of this boss from the corrupted to the impossible.
I've fought him three times and died before I could even get him into his 2nd phase.
I have the full soaring armor set, with the fireball staff and the arcane staff.
Anyone know what armor set I can use to even survive his attacks and the fires he sets?

Well, obviously everyone's experience will be different. But I was playing with a mix of melee/ranged, and I only ever used craftable armors. I beat this dude without much trouble just using ranged weapons. I think I had one of the muskets? Didn't even craft the red crossbow until after he was dead.

With a pet (the fire-shooting cat) and a musket, this was an incredibly easy fight.

I had a easy time using a bow and the summoning book. I wore pieces of the witch and shaman armor. It gave me enough to have 3 bats up at a time. I cleared the room of obstacles and just circled the room while pelting him. If he threw fire patches down, I just went around the outside of them.

Is that the third boss most people will do that makes all the fire in the room? He beat me the first time, but the second time I had good food items, a health potion, and just used the ranger set with an iron bow.

I won't say I had an easy time, but I've never died to Malugaz. Clear the whole arena first, even the destructible stone wall. Not going to list everything I used, but ranged/magic is ideal so you're able to stay out of fire. I used an off-hand feather to have the dash, makes dodging his charge easy. Make sure you bring health potions! Maybe use some buff potions too if you need, but definitely heals. My movement speed is mega high via Owlux + Soaring set bonus, so maybe that helped too.
