No new mechanic to make re-planting seeds efficient
I was hoping 1.0 would address this.
Harvesting the crops is efficient because of the Scarlet Hoe (and if you really wanted to you could also use a drill-factory, but that's marginally more efficient, if at all), but it seems after years we have STILL not gotten a mechanic that allows for efficient re-planting of crops, and we are still hardstuck with the tedious manual replanting of every single seed by hand.

I suggest a new tier of a hoe, maybe not Octarine-tier, but Solarite or something, that has the same 5x5 area of effect the Scarlet one does, BUT it also RE-PLANTS all harvested crops automatically on harvest.

This turns a 120-tiles farm field from 125 mouse clicks to 5 clicks of work.

I remember farming plants to get to lvl 100 gardening, and it was so annoying. My character was already a god and I was planting seeds one by one...
A feature that allows you to plant atleast 5 seeds at the same time should be implemented by now. I thought it would be available a long time ago.

Ideally? It would be great if harvesting didn't pull up the seeds at all. Find a spot, plant them down, let them grow, then harvest the bounty at the end. I guess there's a bit of an attrition mechanic before putting 5 points into the first talent, but that can be duplicated by giving a 25% chance to kill the sapling on harvest, with the talents bringing it back to 0%.

I also thought the idea of self-replenishing crops would be neat, but there's a couple problems with that:
- how would the game calculate the gold crop % chance from the skill? Unless it's moved to "on harvest" instead of "on plant"
- you would have to spend a considerably more amount of time on "cleaning up" the wild crops in the biomes, UNLESS we separate wild crops from the hand-planted ones, but that requires a whole new item to code for each crop
- gameplay balance would probably add a way to add a special seed type to craft "infinite" crops. However, let's say that you need 10 Heart Berry seeds to craft a regrowing variant of the Heart Berry seed. That's 1200 Heart Berry seeds to farm if you want a 120 tiles farm of Heart Berries... so cooking up a new gameplay mechanic like that adds a whole layer of grinding, which would be a counter-productive solution.

So I stick with my opinion that a new hoe tier with an area of effect seed replanting mechanic would be best.

dang, i searched the forums to see if i was missing something because seeds 1 by 1 is cheeks. Thought maybe I'd missed a mechanic. Sad.

They could just make it so hoeing grown plants harvest them and set them back to stage 1 (gold or not gold is shown on stage 2 so I figure they just make the determination then, or just make it so that setting to stage 1 is the same as planting for the purpose of gold crops)

And hoeing from any other stage gives the seed back just like currently.

There should be a sprinkler upgrade that allows you to place 1 type of seed inside it for it to also seed it's area as well as water it.

Simple and effective.

Ooh, I like this one. Integrates well with what we already have and is a bit outside the box. I guess what you're getting at is that this seed sprinkler would have a single slot inventory that you fill with seeds, which it would automatically plant.

Yup. Then you can just easily harvest each time with your hoe and it'll replant with the seeds in it's inventory.

You'd still have to eventually refill each spinkler with seeds, but this makes having excess seeds serve a purpose. (You don't have to refill the sprinklers as often)

Well, the options and possibilities are there, both the seed-sprinkler and the replanting hoe sound good to me, I really hope the devs are aware of adding such QoL.
They removed the fishing minigame because it was "too tedious" for God's sake.
Why did they keep the manual replanting of seeds one by one after TWO YEARS is beyond me.

This is a top QoL idea! Also, pretty unique, I hope devs notice this and make it happen... or modders, that would be the first mod for this game I'd use.

Planting is so annoying I went on fish based diet, even when fishing minigame was a thing. With all my dislike for world hopping I got most of my plant food from running across starter biomes in throwaway worlds and picking all random fruits and shrooms.
