I would suggest another solution aswell: Harder difficulty doesn't necessarily have to mean more damage taken and enemies have more HP. You could also make enemies more aggressive, or spawn more of them in certain places. If enemies aren't that dangerous on their own, create situations where players are outnumbered and have to play smart.
Although this wouldn't solve all issues, but it's another approach to making hard mode more fun.
Not to mention extra attacks, like how in terraria master mode bosses get extra phases or attacks.
but its little unfair to compare melee to terraria.
yeah i agree they need to balance it,
but terraria melee are weapons that are litterally range attacks most of the time
overall i agree to you. playing melee on hard worlds feels like selfmade challenge/nerf if you know the other weapons.
risk reward balance is bad.
in terraria
if you suffer 40 damage with 20 armor on classic you take 30 damage
if you suffer 40 damage with 20 armor on master you take 20 damage
armor has alot more value on master.
a little more armor is huge in master.
yes you dodge alot in master but if you play with 80 armor or play with 40 armor and get hit makes a big difference if a enemie hits for 100 damage.
yes sure the enemies do tripple damage, but that doesnt matter. that was not the point.
it was just about specific damage reduction on specific damage.
if you compare it to corekeeper, i dont get how you can disagree.
oh btw i only play hardcore on master. wowie no idea what the point was to mention it.
