Hello i would like like to know how far from a spawning tile can mobs spawn i made a square made a moat around an then a wall and still the mobs spawn Outside of it ? any hints or info?

I havent had any mobs spawn off the tiles that spawn them so you should be good, ive made several "mob rooms" even as small as 8x8 i got the mushroom men to spawn, but bigger does let more spawn :)
From my own gameplay (hosting local server for the wife to also play) we have a mob trap setup with spawning moss tiles that have spike traps on top of them surrounded by walls. If we 'go away' far enough to allow mobs to still be spawning but not be close enough for them to be rendered .. when we come back some of the mobs are outside of the walls.

Either they now have the mobs spawning within the chunk itself and not directly on the moss tile that spawned them, or they are somehow ignoring walls. Not sure if they changed the spawning mechanics or not or if this is a bug like the one they addressed prior to the full release that got reintroduced with the full release.

It would be handy to know, though, if they did change it to spawn 'within the chunk' and not 'on the tile' so that I can design a proper mob trap to keep them contained and not return to my base area with dozens of them running around outside of the intact walls lol.
Build a room as big as you want, place spawn tiles, place traps. Enjoy the loot. Keep in mind mobs have like a 10-20 ish minute respawn cdr. I think that if you come close to the room (6 tiles AoE or closer), the respawn timer resets so be mindful.

Well mine arent that big tho but from the looks of that core keeper tool not sure how it makes sens but the squares when clicking on the mobspawn grid so if i placed spawn tiles in that square it means they can spawn any where inside that square ??

my problem as uoabigail is saying is somtimes when i come back theres one or 2 of those with the clubs and some times they go bezerk an trash evry thing around em so not fun to come back to a base thats been trashed

again i thought placeing a tile it mean they can spawn on top of that one block and not any where else ?

These are the small ones but if the big type is there he will trash the whole thing

Problem is they spawn outside on the brown area + even inside the grey areas and thats wall + torch + stone fence they dont seem to care where they spawn tbh

well some say it is still on top, others like you notice it kinda chunk like, could be a bug
