1.0 Steam Deck Performance
I'm interested in picking up the game now that it's 1.0. Has the performance on Steam Deck improved at all with the full release?

I've been playing .9.9.9+ on the Deck for about 30 hours. I have the internal/external resolution set manually to 1280x800 and capped refresh rate to 60fps (I'm on OLED with the 90hz screen), and set to Proton Experimental (it starts off as native Linux). It has stayed consistently at 60FPS throughout my entire playthrough so far, with almost no drops besides one or two periodically (unnoticeable with no hiccups), which I think is just normal fluctuation.

The performance has greatly improved since the Early Access days, where it would at best hover around 20-40FPS depending on how large your base is. I haven't tried planting over 100 crops in the same area like I did in EA, though, but I do have a small mob farm set up and it hasn't dropped FPS even when there are around 40 mobs. I'm really happy with the game's performance on the Deck, considering I go out of my way to play all my games at minimum 60FPS.

I play exclusively on the deck and other than being a battery hog I've had no problems with it.

Okay i test it with exact same Settings and at the Start i have 40-45 Frames xD

Witch Settings you use? Every on High?
It run on my OLED not good. Same as EA Version.

Display Settings: V-Sync: Off, Bloom: Reduced
Graphics: All set to low, with Reflections On.

Most of the settings being adjusted down aren't too noticeable since the screen is such a low resolution. I go back and forth between a PC with a 4K display with all settings on High to the Steam Deck with Low/Reduced settings and the visuals hardly take a hit. some settings can probably be increased while keeping 60FPS, I just haven't tested them all yet.

Hm. Yes well okay if I turn everything to low then yes. But that shouldn't be the case, should it? I mean the game isn't a graphics marvel.

I played the whole thing 7 months ago and the performance was just as shaky. It's a shame that hardly anything has changed here. Unfortunately, it's still not really well optimized for the Steam Deck. Too bad. I would have liked to immerse myself in the game but everything on low takes away a lot of atmosphere in my opinion.

The developers don't really answer whether there will be a patch specifically for the Steam Deck.

Okay i see. No optimized after Release.
That's a little disappointing.

For all players who come across this thread, let me summarize.

Set all settings to low and it will run at 60 FPS in 90% of cases.

However, this makes the game look significantly worse (especially with the lighting) and is not really recommended in my opinion.

Pan'thon said "some settings can probably be increased while keeping 60FPS, I just haven't tested them all yet." So I wouldn't draw that conclusion so swiftly.

Also, on the Steam Deck, I would argue that lowering the settings makes the game look “significantly worse” is an over exaggeration unless you are connecting to an external display. If you change them with the game loaded, you can directly see the effects of lowering them through the window.

I have it in front of me right now and it looks much worse on low. That's a fact. As already described above, the lighting is drastically reduced. This is particularly noticeable on the OLED. I don't think that's an exaggeration.

If I have to set the settings completely to low/med for a game like this to run stably, that's not a good optimisation in my opinion :)

You are welcome to see it differently.

And as I said. Unfortunately, nothing has changed in terms of performance on the Steam Deck since my last session a good 6-7 months ago. I also tested the beginning back then. There was a marginal boost of 2-3 frames. But that's really not worth mentioning. I've also read through all the patch notes now. They were never really about the Steam Deck. All this leads me to the conclusion that the developers didn't put much emphasis on the Steam Deck.

does the game still crash after around an hour on steamdeck? i enjoyed core keeper, just a pitty it wasnt optimized well. it was shocking to me, as a pixelart game should not hog so much resources for its graphics.
Pan'thon 27 AGO 2024 a las 4:26 p. m.
I play on the Steam Deck in roughly 2-4 hour spurts and haven’t had a single crash. I’ve had one in the desktop specifically in .9.9.9 the first day it released about 8 hours into a new world. I’m not sure what caused it, though.
