This game has been developed very successfully. What you have to do now is to kill 3 bosses. There will be a treasure chest after killing each one. There are equipment, materials and statue keys in the treasure chest. Get the key and go back to your base to put it in the statue. Remember to make a few rooms for the merchant NPC to live in. When you finish lighting up the 3 statues, you can go on an adventure to a larger map. It will be more exciting later and you need to explore it slowly.
Explore. Each of those statues represents a boss. Go locate them and kill them.
You'll need armor, weapons, food.
Yes, it's better to get 6 houses, because there will be many merchant NPCs later, keep one for yourself, or I can go to your base to help
If you want my help, please invite my friends. There are surprises
The Core is the Core. You can (and probably will) build multiple bases, pretty much where ever you like. But you probably will want one at the core, and that probably will be your primary base at least during the early part of the game.
You start with the three mandatory bosses which can be found in the world. Kill each of these, loot their chests, and put their crystals into their respective statues by the Core. This unlocks crafting recipes.
The first boss is in the starting biome (I forgot the name) and you hear a rhythmic, loud thumping while near it. You unlock three recipes at its statue after inserting the crystal with two of the items being used to easily locate the other bosses (one item for each boss). After these three, you have more bosses to kill. There are also optional bosses.
If you don't want to use an item to find the other two bosses, here's how to find them. Ghorm the Devourer digs a giant tunnel with slime on its ground and has sound when it's near. This tunnel is a circle around the Core which Ghorm constanltly laps. You do not need to wait for the tunnel to be made. Mine in any direction to find the tunnel. When you have damaged it enough, it will start to charge at you, so don't worry about being fast enough to kill it.
As for the Broodmother, you need to find and explore the "Larva Dungeon." There are multiple per world but only one which is particularly large holds the Broodmother. The walls of the Larva Dungeon are likely too durable for you to mine at this stage of progression, so you can check that to see if you are in the right place. Larva Dungeons only generate in the Clay Caves. The walls look fleshy and try to "extend" towards the player. Find a hole in the walls to get in the dungeon. If you are unsure if you found a Larva Dungeon, you can use a shovel to dig the ground up. If you get "Larva Hive Block," you find a Larva Dungeon.
In truth, much like Terraria which the game resembles, I play this game by looking at the wiki and recommend that you do the same. However, you don't actually need to. It's just that you might miss some optional bosses and gear.
One more thing: except for the wooden hoe, each hoe digs up more "flooring" such as slime at once than a shovel. Just a useful tidbit. Also, recommended order for the first three bosses is: Glurch > Ghorm > Broodmother.
You could try to blitz past every boss and you would probably have fun. However, you may also do optional things like fishing, farming, automation (this game has some simple machinery), and cooking.
Don't waste traps on Ghorm. It'll just use up all your Tin.
Get some kind of Ranged Weapon, A Musket would work if you can find one, but a Wood Bow would probably be enough. Take it to your Repair Table and Improve it (you might also want to build an extra and improve that as well and keep it in your Inventory. If you've managed to kill The Hive Mother then the Grubzooka will work just fine.
You also might want to craft a couple of Beds, put one in your main base, but build some kind of forward base nearer to where you intend to fight Ghorm "just in case".
Get some Armor that'll allow you to mitigate the effects of Slime on the ground, the Rain Coat and Rubber Boots are sufficient for this and can be crafted, but there are also some special rings/necklaces that can be found in the Clay biome (in the Larval caves) that'll allow you to neutralize the Slime slowing effect (if you have two of the items).
Craft some food too, I'd suggest something that gives you a Glow effect so that you don't need to hold a light, and something that gives you a Speed boost as well as a healing effect. I'd suggest Hearty Pepper Wraps (Bomb Peppers and Heart Berries).
Once you've got all that set, head out to where Ghorm runs his track, pick a position nearby and ... start shooting. Once you successfully aggro him, he'll start charging you, but, he has a fairly large turning radius, so ... DODGE!
Once he's focused on you, just keep dodging and firing.
If you're not doing enough damage to aggro him, consider using some bombs.
But seriously, don't waste any Tin on him, at the point you're at now, Tin is valuable and you never have enough.
Save your Tin for fighting the Hive Mother Traps are very useful there.
It occurs to me that there are lower level Wood Traps now, those are too weak to have much impact on Ghorm, so ... don't bother trying to use those, but DEFINITELY don't waste any Tin on him.
If you really want, you can use some of the "natural" spike traps from the Larval Caves. Hit them with a hoe or a pick to pick them up.
Also, Wood is a renewable resource, here's an example of how to set up a woof farm: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2802836829
Heh ... I'm being too literal, sorry.
There isn't a "dodge" button.
I mean when Ghorm is charging at you ->->->->->->->->->->-> Then what you do is run ^
Run side ways (or a hair towards him, because as I say, he has a minimum turn radius, you can get inside of it). He's faster than you, so ... he'll charge past you, turn around, and then come back, so sometimes you might get clipped, having either food or a healing potion or two helps.
