How do you actually read the sheet music?

I put the Valheim Meadows one onto a sheet music stand, but can't seem to get the music sheet to actually show up anywhere. I pull out my instrument in front of it, open it up, press all kinds of buttons - nada.

You can't actually read the music sheets—they're for auto-playing music. If you interact with a sheet music stand containing a music sheet whilst holding an instrument, your character will begin playing the specified tune autonomously.

That is not my experienxe. I put the sheet on a stand, then I stand in front of it with a pocket piano, but it just opens the keys panel and no music is playing. What am I doing wrong?
