Kelp for farming
I am having a hard time catching enough kelp to feed for my Kelple in order to keep them alive. I've had animals despawn when they've run out of food in the trough and some time has passed, but it is easier to farm and collect bugs for the other cattle-like animals. The kelple only eat kelp, and so far the only way to obtain kelp is fishing. I've added the bait while fishing to increase the rate of catching non-fish items in the hopes it would increase my kelp catch rate. It didn't help much, I would still need to fish for a long time before catching even 1 kelp.
Maybe there could be a feature to create fish nets to catch on their own, or a kelp farm.
There are jellyfish we are able to sift out with a shovel from the sunken sea, maybe we could have the kelple eat those as well and have them be a source of food to also farm in a tank.

I did well farming kelp by using the bait that helps you catch items instead of fish. The one made with glow tulips. I don't know how many kelpies you have to feed though, might not be able to fish up enough if you have more than a few.

Just go dig up some yellow kelp from the water in Azeo's Wilderness. :)

It is easier to catch items if you fish outside the swirling places where you can see the fish. Without the use of special bait, my base catch rate is pretty quick. Though Azeo's wilderness is still the best, using the shovel or by placing ground tiles in the water, since you can't use the shovel from the boat.

Yellow Kelp from Acid water, much higher rate versus other kelp. Also have lucky rings for non-fish chance increase.

Second this, bucket acid water to you base for convenience. Get some coin for lucky ring and stuff to assist your fishing. Spend some time to start kelp industry.

This is not supposed to happen. Food is only ever supposed to be required when you want the animals to either reproduce or to produce their resource.

Some players have reported their cattle disappearing/dying. Some have suggested it is because they were fed Bomb Peppers, which have a negative hit-point modifier. IMO, that shouldn't effect cattle, but... shrug.

IMO - IF cattle are dying from starvation and it's not because a hostile spawned near them or gained access to them, then it's a bug that will be corrected and there's no need for any added mechanics. I have yet to have any cattle die from "starvation" and don't feed them often at all. (Maybe once every third session or so, just to do it... /shrug)
