okay, pardon a follow up, how do you do it? because for character types standard you lose your thing when you die, and hardcore your death is permanent

You only lose the stuff that's not either equipped on you, or in your hotbar.

Note that "equipped" is up to 3 sets of gear; you can cycle through 3 different "outfits" on the "paper doll" interface.

There is currently no setting to keep all of your inventory upon death, however, your tombstone will be where you died and you can go and hit it with something to pick up both the tombstone and anything from your inventory that you dropped. The tombstone will be marked on your map by a little X with a coloured dot in the middle of it. ^_^
