As for getting the cattle back to main base - prepare for a long and arduous journey, fraught with danger. I had to lead a few all the way with a Mushroom in my hand. Sadly I did lose one (accidentally clubbed it in the face with a pickaxe while making my way around a chasm).
Edit: I had to go out quite far as my Wilderness exploration reaches out a fair distance.
Far enough for me to be seriously considering rebuilding my home world on a new map.
I've found 2 instances of the new biome so far, but the trek back to base with something as fragile as a Moolin or Bambuck is treacherous to say the least... I'm 1 for 5 so far... a losing battle considering how long it's taken to find the new biome instances. Then ofc I'll need to do it all again, but crossing the desert to get my grubby paws on Strolly Poly, I'm guessing I'd be lucky to get 1 in 10 back alive.
On the plus side, I did find one of the new structures and in it was a Giant Mite valuable that I've been searching for for a LONG time.
AND block movement... very much best to un-equip the pet before attempting such a long and dangerous journey.
Good fun trying it a couple of times tbh, but I'm not sure I've got the patience to endure the task again, knowing it would be sooooo much easier to start fresh and grab the cattle from less demanding areas.
After chatting to you guys I'm slowly starting think it's one of few worthy challenges remaining.
Or, maybe I'm feeling masochistic.
I've only done a little testing on that front (maybe an hour or 2), but it doesn't seem like they do.
no new items with their materials just made it annoying to make existing items
