A 1000 long conveyor actually work?
Can I actually make a 1000 tile long conveyor and have all items reach the end that were dropped on it? Or does it get lost/forgotten if I'm not wandering around nearby to keep the areas refreshed/in memory......

Probably? Items you drop will stay there. Drilling ore deposits also don't stop when you go far away.

look at the carnage on the slime tunnel that circles the dirt biome. You play for a while and come back to that area and there is tons of loot all around it from the other biomes monsters fighting the slimes that spawn. So I would say yes the game is going on in other areas even when you are far way.

So in my latest world I asked that same question. I thought it would be super fun to run conveyor belts into the core of my base to convert them ores. So I had that large chunk of tin on the other side of the slime circle and it was actually able to mine and transport the mined resource. while I did my thing. I haven't tested past the wall yet, but i think it would work.

Right, its what I was thinking of doing... I pre-process the ores to bars by the boulders, then was going to just haul them all in to the main crafting base via long-ass conveyors lol.

I decided to give this a spin myself and I can report that I now have a steady flow of octarine ore coming into my base next to the core. So it indeed seems a long conveyor works.

Although technically possible what in the fresh ♥♥♥♥ would compel you to go through the pain of putting it together?

I now have an even longer conveyor bringing in galaxite bars from four galaxite boulders. :steamhappy:

I use them and tunnels to transport cattle safely from the desert and wilderness, also look at the ring grom use to travel thats roughly how far from you mobs are calculated, items on convery belts drills smelts arms and plants are calculated much much further than that, BUT at a much much slower rate, its why if you stay in that i dont know 1000 block range of your garden its grows like 10x faster than if your on the other side of the map
