Edit: And this is worlds with the 0.6 patches, so it should definitely be implemented.
I found the maze in wilderness. Not even close to the rock biome XD
I wish these things had a fixed-in distance like the Broken cores.
If, however, you explore fairly systematically as you push out from the Core, moving outward slowly as you explore the large swaths of area you've populated with events, you have a much greater chance of both generating the Thread of Fate spawn AND actually finding it.
I kind of wish they'd just nail down a tile distance for the Thread of Fate event, like they do with the other events. "It'll always be 1200-1250 tiles away from the Core" or whatever, like most other important spawns. Currently, it doesn't seem that it's a fixed distance, assuming other players aren't mistaken or lying when they report their troubles finding the Thread.
If you get utterly destroyed trying to find the Thread, let me know and maybe I can join a session sometime and bring you one. I have an extra, currently (been exploring a second world a bit more thoroughly in order to find the Cave Mother's Ring and the Crystal Meteor Chunk, which I still haven't gotten, and came across a second Thread of Fate temple).
