Go to - C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\LocalLow\Pugstorm\Core Keeper\Steam\[SteamID]\saves. There you'll find #.json files. Each file is one of your characters, renumber them in the order you want.
Worlds, hmmm, I've not figured out how to keep the map exploration data yet, but if you go back one folder to \[SteamID] you'll see \worlds and \worldsinfo folders. You'll find #.wolrd.gzip and #.worldinfo files. Again renumbering those will rearrange your worlds.
The \maps folder contains the exploration data, but I don't think the numbers correspond one to one, i.e. world#4 might use \maps\23 folder and not \4 - I've not tested though tbh.
Be sure to MAKE A BACKUP of the whole \[SteamID] folder if you do decide to play around in there though - I don't fancy being held accountable for demolishing someone else's save files.
Edit: or ofc. take the safer option and wait for the developers to add in the functionality. They're aware of it for sure, it's been requested a few times.
It seems NOT renumbering the #.worldinfo keeps the exploration data, but the world is then labelled 'Legacy World'.
So, uh, yeah... still can't figure out how to keep the world name AND exploration data intact.
Edit: I'll do some more testing after work tomorrow and see if I can nail it, but I'm thinking the \maps folders are link to character #.json and not the world #.
That's great information. Being able to rearrange my characters is already nice.
The exploration data being linked to the characters makes sense, considering how the Exploration Table works.
I will patiently wait for your results. I think I can find a way to live with the loss of exploration data, as long as the layout and everything I built stays as it is, but I won't be sad if I can save me a load of time and unnecessary work.
Thank you very much for your testing, it is very appreciated. :)
Renumbering the character #.json was what lost the exploration data - nothing to do with worlds# or worldsinfo#.
So with that in mind to rearrange worlds you'll need to go to C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\LocalLow\Pugstorm\Core Keeper\Steam\[SteamID]\worlds and \worldsinfo, then renumber the matching #.world.gzip and #.worldinfo files - and that's it, world shifted in the list retaining it's name/symbol etc.
To rearrange characters you need to go to C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\LocalLow\Pugstorm\Core Keeper\Steam\[SteamID]\saves and \maps, then renumber the #.json file and the matching \# folder in \maps - and that moves the character's list position and keeps the exploration data intact.
I only tested this on one character(slot 3 moved to 5) and one world(slot 2 moved to 4) so again please, please MAKE A BACKUP first, but it appears to work just fine - buildings intact, chests full of goodies still there, exploration still explorated(
Edit: I'm clueless as to how the #.mapparts.gzip files (unzipped with 7Zip and opened in HxD) link the characters exploration to specific worlds, but those files seem to contain .png data and some other 'stuff' above my pay grade and I'm not seeing any relevant pointers in the character save file (opened with Notepad++).
That worked perfect!
I don't know about your paygrade, but whatever it is, you deserve a rise. Thank you very much, now everything is neat and tidy, as it should be. Objectively I will maybe just save a few minutes of unnecessary scrolling during the next few months, but considering the amount of annoying that will prevent, you have probably saved the lives of a few innocent people. And my brain has learned to brain a bit better than before, which also is great.
Again thank you very much.
Let me know if anything is wrong, outdated or lacking.
I doesn't appear to have information on how the #.mapparts.gzip files are linked to worlds. I'm gonna stab wildly in the dark and guess that if I look hard enough I'll find a couple of matching identifiers in those files and the #.world.gzip or #.worldinfo files.
Not sure I can really say I'm all that keen to go hunting for something I don't really need to know other than my big fat nose being... well.... nosey.
Awesome. My work here is done - back to cold and dank of the dungeon I go, better slip back into the chains before anyone notices I'm missing.
That's because a character can visit worlds you don't have stored locally. Thus incrementing the map slot number without incrementing the world slot number. Also, if you delete a world, the map file remains.
The information about what worlds your character has visited is stored inside the character file. Which is now a ".json" format, so can be opened in a text editor, and saved after (very careful) editing. To potentially remove unwanted map links.
I don't know the details for doing that, off the top of my head. And that wikizet guide could do with updating a bit. As with many of its pages.
