Performance on Steam Deck is so bad
How good is the performance currently on Deck?
I saw in YouTube Videos 8-9 month ago that the performance was very poor.
How is it at the moment?

Okay. I tested.

Holy ♥♥♥♥. It runs like absolute crap on Steam Deck. On the lowest Settings 25-35 Frames with dips in the low 20.

For me this is not good playable.
The Game run never over 40 Frames.
Refund for me.

Just set lighting to medium and particles to low, the difference is negligible on this tiny screen. I have been very satisfied with the game on the deck, my complaint is lack of content rather than performance.

Certainly not 20 fps dips anyways, only ever had dips if I leave hundreds of items on the ground.

It's indeed terrible. The framerate is not stable and it's very, very poor (not even 30 FPS). Plus if you try to play online, the game crashes by default (you need to launch the game in Linux compatibility).

I don't get how this game can be verified on Deck. Absolute mystery to me.

Sorry Bro but nope. I try this and the Framerate is between 23 and 34.
This Game is not a Steam Deck Game.

Steam Decks GPU works around 90% when playing this game which is crazy for a 2d game. Even my desktop gpu 1080 has to work alot when running this game. I hope that the devs will optimize the game more.

Also I had to put the thermal power limit to 7 watts to get more battery life when running this game, at full speed I only got like 1,5 hours of playtime, but with 7 watts I get like 4-5 hours

Throwing an update out there. This game runs great now on the Deck. Pulls a little more watts than I would like, but that's okay.

FWIW, I gather the game is actually rendering a few passes; a render the blocks in 3d, with lighting and shadows in 3d, then applying the lighting and shadows as masks onto a rendered 2d classic sprite looking view; so its not strictly a 2d pipeline, to the earlier posters. But yeah, you'd think such a simple looking game would render fast, given how well something like Titanfall 2 plays on Steam Deck :)

@MagikMissiles - good to know, thanks! Going to come back to the game after long being departed, and SD is the way to go I feel :)

Setting lighting to low worked perfect for me I went from 20 to 60 FPS. I also put everything else to low except water and reflections because I can't see much of a difference anyway on the small screen.
