Lantern (belt) and bait (pouch) slots.
Don't get me wrong, I am fine with limited slots.

But I basically haven't had any reason to interact with any active offhands because to be honest, the convenience of passive, ok lighting usually is better then an active that I maybe use in a panic scenario once every 3 hours.

Dangers fairly rare and darkness is common, but it would be nice to have a separate slot for a light source and an active item so that I could at least consider a more involved playstyle.

I usually only use them for boss fights. Once you get to the sea and desert you CAN go with out due to the presence of a bag/armors with +glow but the best lantern i've seen also has +mining damage so i still mostly use it.

Yeah I get it, but my point was that its honestly strange that there is an entire side to the game that I missed going through it because the basic comfort of consistent visibility during the 95% that isn't combat conflicted with having my active ability button do something.

You should be farming glow tulips, making food with them, and placing torches everywhere. There's almost no reason you shouldn't have consistent light, especially so much so that you "miss an entire side of the game" also, you could just hold the lantern/bait/etc in your inventory until you need it.

I ate glow tulip food when it made sense and had torches everywhere. Still helped when enemies knocked out torches, when I was exploring uncharted territory (Which is about half the game until you get to the part where you have drills.)

The number of situations where having a dash or block would have been at best relevant like 15 or so times (Larva mom is the one place where the dash overwhelmed other perks.) Where as good visibility (Lantern+tulip is almost full screen visibility) when entering a new room or getting shot at is useful every 5 minutes (Or on the order of hundreds of times.)

The dashing and blocking is going to be at best amusing for a few minutes because they are really not needed with how things are structured, but having a slot might have made me actually consider them.

Im compulsive with torches, but (as was said) the passive light is still great when youre exploring new sections.

I agree that having a slot for bait would make it more used.

And I also usually skip the Shield(s) because swapping equipment repeatedly isnt worth the boost most of the time. Maybe the higher level shield can also be a light source?

I agree tbh. Would be nice to have a lantern slot so i would have a reason to use off hand outside bosses.

Its not meaningfully that much of a power buff, but it does reduce pointless layers to the micromanagement and encourage us to cook more then one perfect ideal utility food item.
