Steam Deck Optimization
Recently, I've been playing all of my games on the steam deck. I've noticed in similar titles like terraria or Stardew valley, I'll be getting about 5-6 hours of battery life. However, in this game, I get about 2.5 hours from a full charge. For reference, that's about as long as I can play Spiderman Remastered with high graphics on battery life. I think some good optimization would set this game up to be perfect for on the go. Obviously, this doesn't just go for the deck. I haven't tested it, but I'd imagine laptop battery life suffers as well.

Most games that use Unity run like poop on the steamdeck from my experience.

Thank you for your feedback Manta Ray! We are continually optimising Core Keeper for best performance on both PCs and the Steam Deck, but I will still make sure your feedback is passed along to the dev team.

Same observation here. The game runs really bad on Deck. I also noticed that it seems to get worse over time. After 10min or so the framerate starts dropping. Furthermore the decks fan spins up like crazy in Core Keeper, similar to a recent AAA release. I would really appreciate an optimization pass...

I think it might run better if CC was limited to single core on SD? On PC it was hitting one core kinda hard, the other cores not so much. I think the SD can boost 1 core if it's not getting hit on multi core.

Ya this game completely destroys the steam deck. I can't even consistently get 30fps and my battery only lasts 2 hours aswell. It runs worse than most AAA titles.

Just picked up the game off GreenManGaming to play on Steam Deck and I was surprised to see how poorly it performed despite being verified.

Yup same here. Saw verified. But struggle to get 25fps on low on SD

frames are poor too, the game isn't great on deck right now unfortunately. runs fine on my pc though

Weird thing is low resolution doesn't even seem to help. Lowered the resolution to 400p I think, and only gained 1fps
This game desperately needs either a code base change or some optimizations. For goodness sakes, the Steam Deck can run Cyperpunk 2077 on a mix of high/medium settings, and Core Keeper's game engine struggles to hit 30 frames per second, much less maintain 30fps. What is going on in the background? Is the engine folding proteins in the background?

good to know I'm not alone with this... the fans are working hard with this one haha

It shouldn't have a verified rating.

Performance is flat out not good enough.

Try manually setting the game to "steam linux runtime" under properties -> compatibility -> force the use [...].
Game seems to default to proton i think on the deck. Performance still was worse than what i would expect, but at least in the hour i tried it on a fresh save, fps was around 40-50.
Temps of gpu/cpu were also far higher than what i wouldve expected, being around 80-ish, but for the brief period i tried it seemed playable.

CK needs to lose it's deck verified status until they get performance under control. It maxes out my fan speeds, temps are really high, and performance is all over the place. Cyberpunk 2077 runs better on the deck (now with fsr 2.1)

WOW. This Game runs like crap on the Steam Deck. I struggle to Hit 25 Frames. How can this get a verified Status?
