Beds?

I'm wondering what's the point of having a bed near an area where you think you're gonna die, if I don't respawn at the bed. I managed to respawn only once in my bed and the rest of the time I've been spawning at the core. Is there a restriction where I can't spawn in one if there's monsters nearby or something? Cause the bed is in a safe closed off area from any monsters and I still keep spawning at the core despite repeatedly going back to my bed to heal.

you need to climb into the bed to set it as the respawn point first not just set it down

Yea it should only take a couple seconds. But you must "sleep" in it and get the healing buff.

I did get the healing buff and everything, but it didn't set my spawn at that location for whatever reason. I ended up moving the bed by a couple of blocks further away from the mold hive and it works now. No idea why the bed didn't save my spawn there; it wasn't even in the hive or anything.

you can't sleep if there are enemies nearby (within a screen length or so, i think? idk the exact distance but it'll let you know if it's too close when you try to sleep). even if you can't see them and there's no conceivable way for them to reach you
i guess that also prevents setting your spawn? but if you did get the healing buff from it, then... i don't know.
given the extreme spawn rates in the mold biome, though, my best guess is just that there were enemies within range.

After moving the bed I was able to respawn in it but couldn't "sleep" in it to regen health. So as soon as I respawned it would say that I can't sleep cause monsters are nearby. I don't think the restriction on respawning has as big of an area than sleeping but not sure either.

be sure to pick all beds in the world if you want to use a bed for a boss fight. its a bug. when you have only 1 bed in the world you will respawn in this one. ive a chest with a bed at evry boss location.
