Keep Inventory / Torch Bugs / Poison
I really do enjoy this game a lot and recommend that others into the genre give a shot. It has few balancing issues that seem to artificially extend and hamper the gameplay sometimes.
Maybe some things for future revisions if the Devs see this (the discord is broken and impossible to get to).
it would be nice to have a Keep Inventory option available for those of us with limited time and would like to avoid the 20 minute walk back to retrieve the items in the grave. Then have to turn right back around to repair our stuff and spend 20 minutes walking back to get more resources. Maybe a fast travel crafted beacon system or town portal esque spell would be a fun mechanic.
The bugs that kill torches drive me insane. Lighting is poor at best even with upgrades and replacing torches constantly is nightmare fuel once you've gotten to a point where you have mapped most of the biomes and just need resources. Its a good looking game. I'd like to see it sometimes. :)
The poison slime debuff feels really bad as well. 75% lower healing for 30 seconds when every enemy already hits 1/3 to 1/2 of your life in the best crafted armor in the game. Would be nice to see it toned down to say 10 seconds or maybe 30% lower healing. Otherwise your spending all your time running away or spam healing for little to no help and wasting resources. A proper dodge mechanic would also be great for this to.
I realize there are workarounds gameplay wise for these items (multiple beds, ranged spam on broken platforms), but as the player its more fun to have deliberate systems in place helping you than to have to game the system as it were.

Can't wait to see where it goes in the future. Its a super fun game with lots of content that can only really get better.

There are idols you can craft that let you teleport back to the core instantly, that could help. And rails are WAAAAY faster than walking, though they don't level up running obviously. There's a dodge in the form of the swift feather item that replaces a shield but acts as a mini-dash. Hopefully this stuff helps you for now! I agree that some of these things would be cool to have improved upon in the future.

...where would be the sense of death if you would just respawn with EVERYTHING in your base?

...for the slime debuff, there might be a piece of jewelry, that eliminates the effect.^^

I mean people play Minecraft that way sometimes, it's just a way to make things easier on people who don't have a lot of free time but want to experience the game.

rails are so easy to harvest in the wild as well as plenty of carts found, walking is not the way to play anywhere past the first boss battle. I had 2 lines running east/west to the outer wall before I ever even had to craft any rails. And yes, the core teleport potion can be crafted and found in loot.

As far as the torch eaters, take out their spawning ground anywhere you want your torches not knocked over, it keeps them from spawning and gives you the material to setup a mob farm to farm them later for mats and drops.

I agree with the keep inventory. When im playing with my friends that are more casual than me, or younger ones the going back to your grave is tedious when just exploring and getting ambushed. Great suggestions!

From the content you mention, it sounds like you're only as far as the Clay Caves. That is the most you should need to run back and forth from the Core from now on. If so, there are several modes of fast transport you should start to unlock:

- Recall Idol (consumable; teleport to Core); Kill Ghorm
- Rail and cart (lay down train tracks and ride fast in a minecart); Tin tier
- Boat (travel on water); Octarine tier
- Standing portals (After initial setup, freely teleport between any two portals); Octarine tier
- Dune buggy (cars go vroom); Galaxite tier

Once you're done with the Clay Caves (i.e. have killed Ghorm and the Hive Mother), you'll hardly need to return to them. After the larvae, enemies seem to go back to ignoring your torches, so you can freely plop them down again. In the meantime, the larvae can only hit what they can reach. If you place bridges or ground tiles that aren't connected to "mainland", they'll be safe from bugs.

Poison isn't a problem if you aren't getting hit. Engage at range or learn to dodge/block. There are potions you can craft to remove poison and a necklace which provides immunity. If it's such a problem, take measures against it. (Consider this when you explore mold biomes.)
